“Hey Gwen, what’s up—”
“Elijah. Oh my gosh, finally.I’ve been trying to get in touch with you.” She rushes out.
“Shit. I’m sorry, Gwen.” I scratch my eyebrow. “Is everything okay?”
“Well, that’s just it…I’m not sure.” She breathes out. I feel a dip in my stomach. I don’t like the sound of that. “I promised him I wouldn’t say anything but…it’s been really bothering me and I’ve been struggling with knowing what the right thing to do is.”
My eyebrows furrow. “What’s going on?”
“It’s Tobias. I’m really worried about him.”
My eyes shoot up to look at him. My heart speeds up in my chest and I feel a rush of panic.
But, as I look over, there he is—standing there looking as happy as ever with that beautiful charming smile on his face. “Are you sure? I’m looking at him right now and he looks great…”
Gwen takes in a sharp inhale. “Oh, he’s there with you? Thank goodness. Okay, okay—that’s good news.”
Tobias looks over at me and winks, sending a weird, twisting feeling in my gut. If something was wrong…I’d know it. I know him better than anyone… don’t I?
“Yeah, he looks great.” I smile softly.
“Okay. I’m glad to hear.” I can hear her calming down over the receiver. “Just…keep an eye on him, would you? I love you both so much.”
I squeeze the phone in my hand. “I love you too. We both do.”
We say our goodbyes and I end the call feeling off as I walk back to Tobias.
Why would Gwen be so worried?
“Tobias here was just telling me about your little thanksgiving party in your dorm. Got any left?” Katelyn asks, her hands on her hips.
I suck in a breath and throw my hand on her shoulder to soften the blow. “I’m afraid I stuffed my face last night.”
“I can make more for you when you come and visit.” Tobias laughs.
Katelyn gasps. “Now,that—that I like.”
I shake my head, throwing my arm around his shoulder. “I was just about to give T a grand ol’ tour of campus before I meet up with Flux.”
Katelyn’s eyebrows raise as a smile creeps on her face. “Oh! That sounds like fun. Can I join you two?”
I look at Tobias who shrugs.
“Uh, yeah. Why not?” I smile, tilting my head.
Truthfully, I’m not too sure why Katelyn would want to hang out with her ex-boyfriend and his new boyfriend, but hey, we’re friends now and if she’s cool with it, then by all means.
“The more the merrier!” I grin.

“This is why I don’t date jocks.” Katelyn shakes her head, sitting back to watch us tussle.
Of course we’re battling over the lastTwizzleras we sit on the grass out in the square. As Tobias towers over me, I quickly realize I’m losing this battle. “It’smine.” I grit out as I think fast, stuffing one end in my mouth.
“Oh shit!” He laughs, wrapping his arm around my head and pulling me in. He’s got me in a full headlock now but little does he know, I’m not hating this position he has me in at all.
“Give it to me.” Tobias laughs, pulling the candy out of my mouth. I wince, trying my best to bite down as hard as I can, relying on him eventually losing grip. It’s basically turned into a chew toy at this point as he shakes my head side to side.
