Marissa puts her glass on the end table to her side. “Let me get this straight. You’re upset because your boyfriend is mega rich, but he didn’t tell you the amount in his bank account on your first date?”

It sounds like a trick question so I have to think before I answer. “No. Yes, but listen. It’s a billion dollars. That’s not pocket change. That's something most people would know going into a relationship.” I’m beginning to think they don’t understand where I'm coming from.

“Pen, dear.” Marissa pats my leg again like she’s about to lay out some sage advice. “You know I love you, right?” She waits for me to nod. “This is the stupidest reason to be upset. In the entire universe of stupid reasons girls have gotten angry at their boyfriends, this is number one.”

I question her with my eyes and an open mouth. Aren’t friends supposed to be there to support each other? Doesn’t she see how Finn has lied to me?

“At least you didn’t do something monumentally stupid like break up with him.” My head flies to Amanda at her comment and my wide eyes must give me away. She gasps. "Oh no, Pen. Don’t tell us you broke up with him.”

“What were you thinking?” My head swivels back to Marissa. Her horrified expression confuses me. Where is the Finn bashing I need?

“You guys! He lied to me for weeks. Weeks!” How does no one else see this?
