“I made an appointment with your office. You knew I was coming and had ample opportunity and time to refuse said meeting. This little drop-in of yours is not the same thing, because trust me, if you had called and requested a meeting, it would have been denied. Leave.”

“Jesus, Destiny. Are you still this upset? It’s been seven years. We were married for eight years, together for ten. We can’t even have a civilized conversation?”

“Darryl, you and I have nothing to talk about.”

“Oh no? How about what’s going on between you and Tyler Townsend?”

“Iknowthat’s none of your fucking business.”

My heart began pounding at the sound of Tyler’s tight voice from my doorway. I inhaled sharply when I turned to see him standing there, fists clenched tightly at his sides, handsome face scowling as he eyed Darryl.

Oh shit.

We seriously did not need a repeat of what’d happened earlier in the week.

“It’s time for you to go,” I sternly told Darryl.

“It’s been fucking time … like after the first time she asked you to leave.”

Damn. How long had he been standing there?

When Tyler moved in Darryl’s direction, I nearly leapt from behind my desk to move in front of him, pressing my hand against Tyler’s abdomen as if that would’ve stopped him if he really wanted to beat Darryl’s ass.

“Leave. Now.” I managed to keep my voice controlled, not wanting to raise it and have others who might still be in the office overhear.

Darryl eyed Tyler for a few heartbeats before glancing my way and shaking his head as he moved toward the door. I tugged Tyler by the arm, pulling him toward me to grant Darryl enough space to move past and exit. When he did, I shut my door behind him, closing Tyler and I inside.

“You are just determined to get into more trouble, aren’t you?” I folded my arms across my chest.

Tyler shrugged. “I’m not afraid of a little trouble.”

“I’ve noticed. Don’t touch me.” I swatted his reaching hand away from me. “I’m still pissed at you for getting your ass suspended for two games. And what are you doing here?”

“I called to see where you were. I wanted to know how your lunch meeting went today.”

“It went fine,” I stated looking over the papers on my desk.

“Fine as in the SEC is taking over this shit and you’re done with it?” he asked, lifting my head by my chin to face him.

“Yes. The SEC is taking over looking into Phillip Morris.”

He nodded.

“I had a few meetings that ran over and a drop-in. That’s why I’m still here and didn’t get a chance to call you. Then Darryl showed up.”

“He was there.”

I wrinkled my forehead. “Where?”

“The other night at Leonard’s.”

I nodded. “He’s Leonard’s agent.”

Tyler scoffed. “Figures. He regularly shows up like that?”

“No, not at all. I’ve barely seen him in the last seven years.”

“Barely?”
