“Tyler, maybe we should—”
“She’s my wife,” I stated, huge grin on my face as I stared up at Carter and the rest of my family, before turning back to Diego. He looked just as surprised as the rest of my family. I heard my mother gasp, along with the rest of my sisters-in-law.
I stood up and wrapped my right arm around Destiny’s waist. I gave her a smug look in response to the scorching look she was giving me. We had planned on waiting until sometime after dinner to tell my family that we had married. Destiny had wanted it that way.
“You didn’t want me to lie to my nephew, did you?” I whispered and then kissed her lips.
“I fucking knew it.” Joshua was the first to speak up. “Remember how pissed he was at my wedding? You must’ve been giving him a run for his money,” Josh stated, grinning at Destiny.
“No more than he was giving me,” she quickly responded.
“That’s bullshit if ever I’ve heard it. You gave me all types of shit.”
“Tyler, your mouth,” my mother insisted.
“Sorry, Mother.”
“Destiny, please come with us. We were just leaving the men to do whatever it is they do,” my mother said, taking Destiny by the arm.
Reluctantly, I let my mother take her. I watched as Destiny, my mother, Patience, Michelle, and Kayla headed toward the back of the house.
“I can’t believe it,” Carter exclaimed.
I peered over at my eldest brother who was shaking his head.
“I figured you would be the one to pull one over on us,” Joshua added.
“Makes sense.”
I looked to Aaron who’d just spoken.
“I told you to get the stick out of your ass. Looks like you did.”
I chuckled at my second oldest brother’s attempt at a joke. He had indeed told me to get the stick out of my ass. I suspected he knew Destiny had something to do with why it was there in the first place.
“Is this woman the reason you’ve had so much trouble this season?”
I turned to my father, frowning. “So much trouble?” I repeated.
“The woman breaking into your hotel, you getting into a fight with your teammate, being suspended for two games.” He lifted a dark eyebrow.
“She’s not the reason any of that happened.” My voice had turned hard.
My father’s jaw worked as he stared at me. I could feel my three brothers glancing between the two of us. I respected my father more than any other man in this world, but even he didn’t get to talk negatively about the woman I’d married. That was how he had raised me.
Finally, he nodded. “Then what happened?”
I looked between my brothers and my father before telling them the issues between myself and Leonard Riggs. I explained for some reason, out of some dumb loyalty to his agent, who was Destiny’s ex, he had it out for her. Therefore, somehow getting that woman he’d obviously screwed to sneak into my hotel room and take pictures to post on social media. Then about how he’d man handled Destiny while she was leaving after having lunch with me at the stadium.
“Why didn’t you tell us before? I would’ve cracked his head open myself,” Carter growled, while cracking his knuckles. Aaron, Joshua, and my father all had the same angered expressions on their face as Carter. I was certain their looks mirrored my own.
“I didn’t need to tell you. I handled it on my own. Took my suspension and got married. Riggs still has what’s coming to him.”
My father raised another eyebrow at me.
“But for now, we have a season to finish. Now, let’s eat. I’m fucking starving,” I stated, rubbing my belly. “And where’s my wife?” I called out, clapping and rubbing my hands together.
“Jesus fuck. I can’t believe this nitwit got married.”
