Yup, tonight would be the night.

“That was awesome,” I gushed. As we sat down on the outside portion of the deck, one of the waitstaff on the yacht began serving us our lunch of seafood, salad, and rice pilaf. I smiled over at Tyler, my body warming up at the water that still trickled from his body.

We had just come back from snorkeling on the second largest reef in the world. The array of brightly colored fish and life that was so close I could touch it was awe inspiring.

“Being underwater always reminds me of how insignificant I am,” I sighed.

Tyler paused from drying his hair with the beach towel to give me a funny look.

“I’m serious. I mean, how insignificant we all are. The ocean ishuge …so huge that even after thousands of years on this planet, humans still have no idea what’s under most of it. There are still forms of sea creatures we haven’t even discovered yet. Can you imagine? So cool.”

Tyler leaned down, kissing my lips. “I can’t imagine,” he stated before pulling back.

“Water has healing properties, too. I think it’s why I took up scuba diving after I started getting counseling. Something drew me to the water. Sounds silly, right?” I shrugged.

Tyler chuckled. “Well, you didn’t laugh at me when I told you I could still feel my dead twin even though he and I never formally met. So, I don’t get to tease you about this, I guess.”

I scooted closer to him on the leather loveseat, pressing my lips to his cheeks. “Thanks.”

He grunted and held a scallop up to my lips. “Eat. You’ve been swimming all morning.”

I rolled my eyes but opened my mouth, letting him slide the tines of the fork inside. I moaned at the taste of the succulent scallop that’d been cooked in a garlic butter. It was delicious. So much so, my stomach actually began growling for more.

Tyler, ever one to deliver, especially where food was concerned, was more than happy to feed me throughout the rest of our lunch.

Once our meals were finished, Tyler motioned with his hand and one of the servers quickly came to remove our plates. Tyler leaned over to tell the server something in his ear. I didn’t pay much attention, just assuming he was telling him of our dinner plans or something.

I yawned. Snorkeling and the delicious food had begun to tire me out.

“Tired?”

“A little.”

A smile touched my lips when I heard music playing. “We should go dancing tonight.” I looked over at Tyler.

His eyebrows raised pensively. “If we have time.”

“Time? What else are we doing?”

He paused, looking over at me. His expression was serious. Just then, the server from a moment ago returned and placed something in Tyler’s hand before leaving us alone once more. I glanced down but couldn’t see what Tyler held. I looked back up into Tyler’s eyes.

“Getting married.”

I barely had time to comprehend those two words. Tyler opened his hand and lifted it up for me to see.

Slowly, I let my gaze drop and my mouth fell open when I saw a beautiful square cut diamond encased in a rose gold infinity setting.

“Wh-what are you doing?”

“Asking you to be my wife.”

“You want to get engaged?” I asked, my eyes still planted on the ring.

“Hell no.”
