"Whatever you say, Miss Chin."
I pinched his arm. "What did I say?"
He captured my lips with his, sucking my breath away as our tongues mated fiercely. When we separated, I let my hand slide down to his navel. He captured my wrist. "We're not done talking."
I licked the corner of his mouth. "We can talk later."
He kissed my neck, and I grabbed hold of his head to keep him where he could do delicious things to me. Then a thought interrupted my bliss. "How come you haven't asked me what I feel about you and what I want?"
Against my skin, he muttered, "I know how you feel about me and I'm wise enough to wait for you to catch up with me in terms of our eventual destination."
My forehead wrinkled. "What on earth did you just say?"
He repositioned us on the pillow, brushing my forehead with the bristle on his chin. "I know what I want from you and what I want for us. Areyouat that point?"
I didn't need as much as a minute to make up my mind. Kofi was everything I needed. I just didn't know if he knew that. Taking a deep breath, I nodded. "I think so. I love you and I want to be with you, no matter where we are."
He kissed the top of my head and pressed his lips to my eyelids and cheeks. "So then, will you marry me when the time comes?"
My smile came close to dislocating my jaw. "Of course I will."
"And you will have my babies, when the time is right?"
The image of myself, soft and full with Kofi's baby, sent a contraction through my womb as I nodded. "Yes, Kofi, I will."
"And will you promise to stay with me, no matter where in the world we may be?"
With tears burning my eyes, I nodded again. "Wherever you are, that's where I want to be."
When I sniffled, Kofi lifted my chin with his thumb. "Gina, you arenotgoing to cry."
"I'll try not to, but I'm so happy."
"Which is why you shouldn't cry."
"You don't understand," I said, swiping my eyes with one hand. "It's just that I never thought I'd get past that incident with Christopher in a wholesome way and you've come along and rescued me from myself."
"Akoma mu t?fe, I did not rescue you. I simply opened your eyes to the strength inside you."
A burst of laughter escaped from me. "What did you just say?"
"I called you sweetheart."
"Oooooh."
"I don't know if you will ever be one hundred per cent healed, but I'm here to help you do the best you can."
"You don't know how much I appreciate you, but one day I may be able to find the words."
"I'll be here." He rubbed my belly while nuzzling my neck. "I think we have a lot to talk about—where we are going to live and where we are going to marry, but all of that can wait. For now, I just want to make love to my woman again."
I wriggled closer, inserting my thigh between his. "Yes, but I have one more thing I wanna ask before that."
"What is that?" he asked, gently squeezing my butt.
"What about your mother?"
Kofi chuckled and lay on his back. "This is why I love you. You are so weird and wonderful. I am trying to make love to you and you are asking about my mother."
