“Is that a yes?”
“Fine, I'll come with you.”
He laughed and kissed her.
When they arrived in New York that weekend, the flashing lights of the press and the fans were the ordeal the group and Emma had to deal with. They finally found their way to the car and after a terrible traffic jam, they arrived at the concert center. While they were backstage, the screams of the waiting fans could be heard through the rafters.
“Are you okay, babe?” Xavion asked Emma as he crouched in front of her. He touched her cheek and placed his forehead next to hers. “You look pale.”
“I’m fine… the lights were just really bright and the screams are quite loud.”
“Yeah, this is the life, Emma. you’ve got to get used to it,” Zane said with a pointed look at Xavion.
Xavion ignored him and kissed her softly, “You sure you will be okay back here?”
She smiled and shook her head, “I’ll be fine here, love.”
“I’ll be back soon.”
He kissed her again and hurried off.
As soon as they were gone, Emma let the tears fall. She pulled out her phone and composed a message.
I love you so much Xavion but now I know that I really do not belong in your world. I am just not in your league. Please don’t come looking for me because I won’t see you. Go back to your life and please be happy. I will try to be though I know it will be hard. I will always love you, Emma.
She pressed the send and dialed Helen. Helen had moved to New York a year ago, “Can you please come pick me up?”
“Sure dear. Where are you?”
Chapter Fifteen
Seven Months Later
“Are you really still thinking about that country girl, Xavion? Come on, it’s been almost a year. She was smart enough to do the right thing. Why don’t you understand that she made the best decision for you both? You cannot really be thinking of turning down the contract, are you?” Zane said as he took a sip of his mango shake.
Xavion turned away from the streets he had been staring at through the glass walls. He stood up and picked up his cell phone. Not saying a word to Zane, he turned and headed out of the juice shop.
They had been back in South Korea for six months and everyday had only been harder than the last. The longer he stayed away from Emma and the kids, the more he felt himself falling into a hole. He had to get back to them. Emma had made it clear that he not go after her. She certainly did not know him well enough. If she did, she would have known that he was never going to give up on them and their love. But to fight for their love and go back to them, he knew he had to get all obstacles out of the way. And the major obstacle that remained was his contract.
And so, he had returned to South Korea and did all that was expected of him. Rumors had been flying around that the company was going to renew their contract but he had kept muteall this time. He knew what he was going to do when the time came.
Unknown to the others, he had already started packing up and preparing to relocate. All his documents had been processed and his family knew of his plans. In his family, made up his mother and sister, they only cared about one another happiness. They had no objections to his new life and they were more than pleased he had found happiness.
He had been in contact with Maxwell Price all this time and he had kept him updated about Emma and the twins. He had been delighted to find out that John’s case never held water. Firstly, his name was not on the twins’ birth certificate and secondly, Emma still had a voicemail he left her years ago which she presented as evidence against him. Maxwell had also told him that they had a temporary restraining order against John after he tried to break in and get the kids. He had been so mad that he was not there and Maxwell had spent a while reassuring him they were all fine. He really missed them.
His phone rang as he got to his car and Xavion pulled it out, “Sunbae, where are you at?”
“Close to my apartment.”
“Great, see you soon.”
He got home just in time to see the others but Zane at the door. He unlocked it and they shuffled in.
“Soju and chicken and beef and pork. Make your choice!” Lay yelled as he set them down.
Xavion laughed and he settled beside them on the floor. “What are you all doing here?”
“Celebrating the fact that you will soon be all smooch-smooch with nuna,” Kai grinned.
