“We should have brought Lili along,” Kaiya mentioned as she let herself out of the car.
Tyler shook his head. “Nope. This one is for us. We can bring her with us another day.”
As they reached the gate, Kaiya said happily. “I’m going on every ride the place has to offer.”
Tyler blew out an exasperated breath. “It’s going to be a long day.”
Kaiya laughed as he paid their tickets, and they entered the very large amusement park that was thriving with people who were having so much fun.
“So, where do we begin?” He put an arm around Kaiya’s shoulder.
“You know where,” she answered by giving him a knowing look.
“Indeed, I do,” he replied and chuckled.
They had always wanted to ride the famous Le Monstre rollercoaster.
“Le Monstre it is.”
“And then, Goliath.”
Tyler laughed and led the way to where the gigantic rollercoaster was situated. Kaiya screamed all through the ride while Tyler watched her, laughing and enjoying the way she was having so much fun.
From the Le Monstre, they rode the Goliath and other rollercoasters in the place. By the time they were done, Tyler wasn’t up for anything high again. But Kaiya would hear nothing of it.
“I can’t believe you’re giving up already. Did you see that couple we came in with? Well, they’re already one ride ahead of us.”
Tyler could only laugh when Kaiya took his hand and led him to a small waterslide. He was seeing firsthand how competitive Kaiya was, and he loved it. The waterslide was so much fun that Tyler couldn’t help yearning to do it again.
“See? I told you it was going to be fun,” Kaiya said as she led him up the ride again. With his arms around her, they both went down the slide, screaming with excitement.
“I feel like a teenager all over again,” Kaiya commented as they headed to the next slide.
Tyler laughed. He was pleased that he had brought Kaiya here. She seemed to be living her teenage fantasy. He loved watching how her eyes sparkled whenever she was to face a new challenge in the park and the way her lips would curve in a smile whenever she was done with a ride. This day would forever remain fresh and treasured in his heart.
They watched a show, dined at a restaurant before walking hand in hand around the place. When it was time for them to leave as it became dark, Kaiya was sorry to go but happy that she came.
“Thank you, Tyler, for such a wonderful day,” she remarked in a tired voice after he helped her into the car.
Tyler reached for her and placed his lips on hers in a passionate kiss. “I should be the one thanking you for such a swell time, Kai. You really made my day with the way you enjoyed every ride and thrill here.”
Kaiya threw her arms around him and kissed him warmly. “Thanks for that.”
“You’re very welcome. I need to tell you something as well.” He said somberly and saw a look of panic on her face and continued quickly before she got the wrong idea. “With everything that has happened with your parents and Lili, I want us to call a truce. I know we’ve been getting along great, but I want you to know that I am very much interested in finding out what’s in store for us and our future. I wanna see where this thing goes with you. I need to know that you feel the same.”
“Of course, Ty. I love spending time with you, and I am very much interested in finding out where this will all lead.”
He claimed her lips in a kiss.
Tyler had to nudge Kaiya awake when they reached his house. He gently carried her from the car into the house. Thankfully, Lili and his mom had already gone to bed by the time he climbed up the stairs to his room with the sleeping Kaiya in his arms.
Emotion clogged his throat as he watched her sleep. It was as if they had never parted, and he was glad that they had a second chance to find each other again.
Chapter 14
“Kai, will you stop worrying?” Kalilah said to her sister who was busy going through all the goodies put out for the children in the yard.
Kaiya smiled sheepishly at her sister. “You can’t blame me, Lah. I’m just being a mother. I don’t want anything to happen to Lili. She’s allergic to nuts.”
