“Let’s go do our nails,” Kalilah said.
“Good idea and maybe we can have ice cream after.” Kaiya responded and hustled both little girls towards the nail salon. They all chose their colors. Kaiya and Lili picked the same pink color. Kalilah got a gel set done and it looked very nice. Kaiya chose shellac.
“Your nails are pretty Aunty Kalilah,” Lili said in wonderment. Kaiya felt envious of her daughter referring to her sister as her aunt Kalilah but still called her by her name.
When their nails were dried, Kaiya sent selfies and pictures of their nails to Tyler.
Tyler’s reply was full of heart emojis which made her smile as she tapped the characters on her phone. She smiled at his response.
“Who wants ice cream?” Kalilah asked.
“Me! Me!” Her niece and daughter squealed.
“Let’s go then.”

“Where are we going, Ty?” Kaiya asked for the umpteenth time.
Tyler sighed beside her in his car. “You were always very inquisitive. I thought you would have outgrown it by now.”
Kaiya giggled. “Look who is talking. Take away my blindfold, and then I’ll stop asking.”
Tyler chuckled. “No, I’m not going to do that. You look as sexy as I want in it, so you better get used to it until we get to our destination.”
Kaiya let out a deep breath. “At least give me a clue.”
Clicking his tongue in mock exasperation, he replied, “It’s somewhere between Longueuil and Montreal Island, and that’s all you’re going to get from me, and you better not start guessing or I’ll turn the car around this minute.”
“Someone is mighty testy this morning,” she remarked, laughing. “You pick me up from work, blindfold me and go on a long drive, yet you don’t expect me to be inquisitive about it?”
“Put like that, I don’t blame you for being curious. Just trust me, okay? It’s a surprise you’re going to love. I assure you that you won’t regret the outing.”
Kaiya shrugged with a look of resignation on her face. “Okay. If you say so.”
Tyler chuckled. “I do say so. Now shut that sexy mouth of yours, and let’s enjoy some music.”
Tyler slot in his favorite Maroon 5 CD and they both sang along until they reached their destination.
“I want you to promise me that you won’t scream when I remove your blindfold because I’m afraid my eardrums might never remain the same again when you see what I have planned for us,” Tyler teased as he reached for the black band around her eyes.
“Sir, you ask for too much,” Kaiya returned and laughed. “Adrenaline is already pumping through my veins as I’m hearing screams. I think I know where we are.”
Tyler shook his head. “Woman, you have no idea.”
Carefully, Tyler removed the blindfold, and just as he guessed, Kaiya screamed into his ear.
“La Ronde!” she exclaimed with so much excitement that he grinned broadly. It was the one place they never visited in their youth as a couple. He saw it as a perfect opportunity to do so now. Lili was in school, and his mom would pick her up later.
Kaiya turned to Tyler with tears in her eyes. “This brings back so many memories. I remember all the times we planned to come here, and for one reason or another, we were never able to make it.”
Tyler agreed with her with a nod and a smile. “Now is a good a time as any.”
She shocked him by leaning closer and placing a sensual kiss on his lips. She pulled away and wiped her red lipstick off his lips.
“After that kiss, I’m tempted to start the car and find the nearest hotel around here,” he hoarsely told her, his eyes promising all sorts of sensual delight.
Her joyous laughter rang out in the car, making Tyler glad that he had planned this outing with her.
