“Dani, we are sisters. We’re friends.”

That got her laughing again.

“You’re mocking me, aren’t you Silver?”

Holding up my hands, I tried to show her that I was doing anything but. “Not at all. But Dani this is…this is a little crazy.”

“Crazy?” She shook her head. “Crazy is watching from so far away as your two sisters grow up with the perfect life even when the sperm donor abandoned all three of you.”

Something was moaning in the dark now, and I started for it.

“Stop!”

Dani pulled out a gun flashing it.

“Stay right there.”

“Fuck!” My voice sounded high pitched and tight.

This bitch has lost it.

She slowly walked backwards into the dark, nearly disappearing into a void. Fear was coursing through my body while adrenaline chased it. I’d become aware of the air conditioning cutting on and wind moving over my face, rustling my curls that had fallen loose from the pony tail on my head.

Dani’s going to kill you.

There was a shuffling sound and slowly I watched as Dani pushed something forward and up out of the darkened corners of the pool house. I realized it was a rolling chair that was making an awful squeaking noise, the wheel seemed like it wanted give way at any moment. Attached to the chair was my friend, her face bruised and bleeding.

Chyna’s eyes were wide open as she took me in; her eyes were pleading for help.

“Oh my fucking Lord!” I hollered coming close. “Dani, what have you done?”

I stopped when she trained the gun on me.

“What have I done?” She shook her head, and the gun shook along with her. “This bitch lied in your face for months. I didn’t do anything she didn’t deserve.”

I watched as she took a breath, then focusing back on Chyna who was breathing erratically. Something must have set her off again before I knew it, she took the butt of the gun and slammed it against Chyna’s cheek.

Chyna couldn’t do anything, but wince and cry out in muffled pain. The gag in her mouth prevented much of the sound from escaping.

My hand went to my mouth to stifle my own hurt.

“Tell my sister you’re sorry bitch,” Dani’s eyes were wide.

“Dani this is insane….”

Her eyes snapped to my own.

“What did you say?”

Knowing that had probably been the wrong choice of words in this situation, I didn’t care. This would at least draw her attention back to me and off of Chyna. My eyes darted back to her for just a moment and through the sliding mascara, the sheen of sweat decorating her skin, there was fear in her eyes.

Her future uncertain.

“You heard me, Dani…this is crazy,” I shook my head.

She trained the gun on me then. Her hand was shaking just a little bit.

I winced.
