“Sorry,” Silver smiled. “I’ll have a dirty mojito. As dirty as you can make it.”

Everyone else gave their order and I wanted a beer in the bottle with a glass. Paul and I talked about my hopes for the next season with the Knights when Dani chimed in again.

“I mean you played good, but you don’t think they might trade you after next season?” She raised an eyebrow.

This little….

My thoughts settled as Silver rubbed at my arm. “No, I don’t think they’ll trade me after next season. My agent is working on a deal…it’s not set in stone….yet.”

Dani went on talking but my mood had turned sour. Paul playfully punched me in the arm as our drinks arrived and everyone ordered food.

“She has it out for me,” I whispered to him.

“Who?” Paul asked frowning.

“Silver’s assistant.”

I could feel her eyes burrowing into the side of my face but I refused to give her the satisfaction of acknowledging her presence further. Dani had made up her mind about me. She hated my guts but I wasn’t going anywhere.

“Babe, let’s dance,” Chyna’s voice cut through the tension as she leaned around Silver and spoke to her husband.

“Let’s” Paul said and stood up.

Figuring this was the perfect time to get myself away from the foul miasma known as Dani, I invited Silver to do the same. Standing up, I extended my hand.

“Don’t make me beg for, Sassy.”

Rolling her eyes, Silver took my hand and stood up the little black dress shimmying over her skin as she did so. With Silver walking in front of me, I looked back at Dani and rolled my eyes at her.

She simply raised a brow and sipped on the wine that almost appeared to be black.

Fucking menace,I thought.

We joined Paul and Chyna and a few other couples on the large dance floor. Silver’s hand went around my neck and I breathed her in. Beyonce was crooning through the speakers.

“We could’ve done prom twenty years ago,” she winked looking up at me.

“We would’ve fucked on prom night,” I murmured in her ear, already getting hard.

Silver must have felt him because she pushed into me tighter. “We’ll play pretend tonight then.”

“So, you would’ve gave it up on prom night huh?”

Before Silver could answer, we found ourselves being startled by Dani. Her smile was wide, and toothy.

“Sorry to interrupt,” she looked between the both of us.

“So why did you?”

“Silver, your mother is calling,” she held up Silver’s phone and handed it to her. “She called back to back, thought something might be wrong.”

“Oh,” Silver’s sounded surprised taking the phone. “Better take this. Be right back.”

I was about to follow her when Dani stopped me. “I wouldn’t mind a dance Mr. Kline.”

The way she said my name made me feel as though someone were raking razor blades over the skin on my back. Dani gave me the goddamn creeps. I wanted to follow after Silver, be anywhere but on the dance floor.

A huge pregnant pause went by and before I knew it she was grabbing my hands, and pulling me in close. The music had turned weirdly seductive and couples had started to slow grind. I didn’t want to be within a mile of this damn woman.
