Realizing I was still wrapped in a sheet, I stepped back. “Are you leaving now?”
“Nope.”
“What?”
He smiled and then went and hopped on my bed, looking way to comfortable and relaxed. “Coach cancelled the early morning practice.”
I was biting my lip. “Okay…”
“So, why don’t we spend the day together?”
There was no way I wanted to answer him, so I turned and fled into my bathroom. Shutting the door behind me, I let the sheet drop and stared at my reflection in the mirror. I’d straightened my curls recently but I must have sweated them out at some point last night.
A shiver snaked its way along spine as the memory flooded my body of how he had commanded that rose all over my clit. My knees shook at the thought and smile eased itself onto my mouth. Finally, I tore myself away from my frazzled reflection and turned on the shower.
The door opened just as I was dipping a toe in.
“Whoa!” I screamed.
Kelton just laughed. “I’m gonna go get us some breakfast. You don’t have shit in this place to eat. What do you like to eat?”
Shock and surprise painted itself on my face but I recovered. He wasn’t going to go away so I might as well get some free breakfast.
“Surprise me,” I shrugged.
He grinned this time and came into the bathroom and kiss me full on the mouth. “Planning on it, Sassy.”
He left me standing there shocked before I shook it off and stepped into the hot water, water so hot it could have peeled my flesh from the bone.
I welcomed the heat.
I decided then, under the hot water that was relaxing my body, I would just let things happen. That whatever was going on with Kelton, I would enjoy the ride.
Chapter12
Kelton
Aweek later…
The lights of the fair sparkled as people milled around. The smell of funnel cake in the sweet crisp fall air made me feel like my regular self. That was saying something because I hadn’t felt like myself in days.
I could still feel the Friday night lights of last week’s game, as I fumbled the ball in front of millions of people.
Losing the playoff game had been hard.
Coming to Sacramento was supposed to have been the chance I needed. The stats I’d put up through the year had been miraculous but….
It hadn’t been enough.
“Earth to Kelton!” Silver’s voice pierced through the self-doubt plaguing my brain.
Turning to her, I took her in. Her curls had been piled into a messy bun and there was a wisp of cotton candy on her mouth. Leaning down, I pulled her face up to meet mine. Gently, the tip of my tongue swiped at the piece of fluff.
She tasted sweet.
We started walking our steps taking us around other fair goers. People were playing games like ring toss and alarms were dinging for the prizes being won.
“I’m here,” I told her.
