“Is it me, or did Chyna just try and leave us alone together,” Kelton looked off after Chyna.
“Not sure,” I replied. “But I really have no use in talking to you.”
I went to storm off, all the old hate I felt for this man was bubbling up in my stomach causing severe anxiety.
“Not so fast,” he stated and reached for my arm.
“If you value that billion dollar arm they said you have, you’ll get off me,” my brown eyes clashed with his blue.
This had always been us.
Ice and fire.
Tornados and calm.
His touched was causing further goosebumps. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like him….
Girl…your cat just purred,I thought.
“Now,” he said slowly pulling me back in and ignoring my warning. “Don’t be like that Silver.”
His stupid perfect eyebrow raised.
“I mean it Kelton,” I shook him off me and tried to shake the feeling off.
He held up his hand in defence. “Don’t be mean. I wanted to talk to you about what the weather is like in California.”
“Huh?”
“Well, I’m getting traded to California. Specifically getting traded to Sacramento. I’m going to be a Knight.”
“What?” my eyes snapped open wide.
I covered Sacramento sports.
I lived in Sacramento now.
My brain was in a fog and the shot was still resting between both my thumb finger and pointer. Easily, the shot went down like water.
“It’s not official just yet, but yeah,” he shrugged.
Chyna was dancing back over with my drink. “Girl, I made this one even better this time.”
She smiled and noted the empty shot glass in my hand and traded it for the mojito.
Thank God, I thought.
“So what are you two having a civilized conversation about?” Chyna smiled widely.
Kelton nodded. “Well I was telling her about how, I’m going to be in Sacremento this coming season. It’s not official yet but…”
I didn’t hear much else because of the shock. I just wanted to finish my damn drink in peace. Maybe I could make it over to The Crescent…
Chyna was hunching me…again.
“Now look here…”
She was grinning from ear to ear. “You should be sweet and show Kelton around when he moves there.”
