Taking a deep breath, I refused to discuss this any further. The night before, I had cooked dinner for Diamond, something I’d never done, and I had had my attempts rebuffed. She simply didn’t love me.

“I’m not here to discuss my child or wife,” I told Lucia.

Her face turned into a frown and then she moved to go into the purse she’d brought with her. “I have the information.”

Most of the paperwork was all crinkled up and folded. Taking a seat beside her, I felt my lips tug into a small smile and gently I bumped her with my shoulder. “Thank you.”

She smirked once more. “Don’t thank me. Wire the money into my account as usual. I have a wedding to pay for.”

Shock filled my core, as if someone had dumped cold water all over me. “What?”

“Yes, exactly why I’m not interested in this being a sexual thing anymore, never again. I’m engaged.”

I noted that for the first time there was ring sparkling on her hand. “I’m happy for you.”

“No, you’re not.”

“I’m really not,” a small laugh escaped.

“So, this Alistair. Everything I could find on him is here. He is pretty fucking bad.”

“Yeah, he put my wife in the hospital. Put a bomb on her car but of course the police couldn’t come up with anything. Atlanta PD isn’t the brightest bunch, not that I need them digging too much.”

“True,” she nodded, and we began to skim things.

“This says he was in Italy for nearly twelve years before coming to the United States,” I glanced over and caught her texting.

“Yeah, apparently he was born here but lived with his….”

Lucia’s words died on her lips as the door to the office flew up with what I could only describe as hell and fury. It clanged against the metal filing cabinet that had been minding its own business and for sure had a dent in it now. The clanging sound seemed to fill my ears.

“Who the fuck is this bitch?”

My wife had arrived on the scene, and she was looking for answers.

Lucia jumped at the booming sound of Diamond’s voice. “I’m DEA Agent Lucia Rossi.”

Diamond’s eyes never wavered they were on me the entire time. “Why are you and this woman in my office?”

Rolling my eyes, I leaned back ready to get comfortable. “It’s our office sweetheart.”

“Why is she here…. Why are the two of you alone?”

“Ask yourself why you care?”

Diamond’s hands went to her hips, she had on a black dress and knee-high boots. She was built like a fucking brickhouse, and it was fucking me up mentally that I hadn’t fucked her in so long that I was about to go crazy.

“I just spoke to Laz, the bouncer you sent to clean up the mess that happened in the bathroom. I only got notified because Sam has me down as her emergency contact…. she’s a friend.” Diamond looked distressed for just a second, it was, like a flash of lightening. If you didn’t know her you, you would have thought Diamond was a robot. Motherhood had opened her up emotionally and we both knew it.

“I need to go,” Lucia offered a smile. “Be well Thierry.”

Diamond stepped aside and watched her go. “To answer your question, I don’t fucking care. What I don’t need is overdoses happening in our club. Why not get out there and give it your full attention? If you’re gonna fuck another woman, do it but don’t bring them here.”

I was there in a flash, slamming the door before people could hear our conversation. “Fuck another woman? Is that what you want?”

“I want you to stop pretending like this is a real marriage,” she was glaring up at me. “I want a divorce. Plain and simple.”

“And the baby?”
