A naughty smile curves on her lips. “What makes you think you can handle me for a month?”
The thrill of having her in my bed shoots straight to my dick. “Aww, wifey…” I say huskily, “I’m game if you are.”
She bites her lip and her eyes dart away.
“At least have a drink with me. You’ve come all this way. What’s the rush?”
Her face is blank, and it makes me think she’s going to turn me down, but then she glares at me. “One drink,” she warns.
Sophie
I cursemyself as I walk through the house. I’m not sure what it is about Viper that makes me say yes. His arrogant and cocky smile? His relentlessness to have me? It isn’t cringeworthy like the men back in New York; instead, it has awakened a part of me that lights up every time I talk to him. I find myself stupidly smiling, so I shake my head to try to rid myself of those thoughts, but instead my eyes go to Viper’s ass. Those jeans hug him so incredibly well.
I refuse to be the woman who pines for a man, but goddamn, I’m so attracted to him. From the confident, sexy swagger in his walk to the way his shirt fits snugly over his broad shoulders to that War Brothers MC vest, I like it all. I should run far, far away from him, but it seems I have no self-restraint. I blame the jeans.
He grabs a small bottle from the fridge and hands it to me. “Is this vodka drink okay, or do you want something else?”
I peer down at the bottle with the brightly colored label. “It’s fine,” I reply as I take it from him.
Viper’s lips tip into a charming smile. He opens the back door and steps outside but keeps the door open for me to pass through. I raise a brow suspiciously at his gentleman act. The music is loud, with a heavy-metal beat. The night is dark apart from the fire people are sitting around.
Viper grabs my hand in his, links our fingers together, and pulls me toward everyone. I startle at first but follow his lead. My heart beats faster at the affectionate gesture.
When we reach the men and women, conversations pause and heads turn to us. Everyone is scattered around the fire, and with that and the dark sky, it’s difficult to make out each person’s face.
The closest men to us have women on their laps. A young man is seated to the right with a woman with pigtails. They keep staring at me with wide eyes.
The man to my left has a friendly smile on his face. He tips his beer up to me in greeting. He has on a black bracelet and rings on his fingers. I lift my bottle back, then they return to their discussions. I glance around again to find someone I know.
“Zara and Bomber aren’t here. They most likely won’t be back till late.”
My shoulders fall. I wanted to see them again. I’ve missed them… well, I’ve missed all my family. Being back in Crown Village has brought me and my brothers closer again. Every time I return to New York from Crown Village, I’m on a downer for days.
I bring the bottle to my lips again and take a longer drink. “Are you okay?”
I subtly shake my head to get out of my daydream, then I study him. He has curved brows. My cheeks heat at being overly emotional. “So, this is what a famous War Brothers MC clubhouse party looks like,” I say sarcastically. I glance around and shake my head. “It’s very tame. I’m disappointed.”
Viper laughs. “The strippers come out later, but feel free to get the party started,” he says and then adds a cheeky wink.
I giggle. Smooth… real smooth. It’s never a dull moment when he’s around. I sense Viper’s eyes on me as I bring the bottle to my lips. After taking a drink, I tease my tongue out, letting it glide across my bottom lip, savoring the last remaining drops of the sugary drink.
Suddenly, I’m being lifted, which makes me squeal. Then he brings me onto his lap. His arms encircle me, holding me tightly. I’m filled with warmth. I breathe in deep and smell his cologne. It’s a tropical scent of coconut and lime, and it reminds me of the beach.
“Have you missed me, wifey?”
I chuckle and shift so that I can see him. “No, I haven’t.”
“I think you have.”
Even though the alcohol tainted my choices, from what I remember, Zara and Knox’s bachelorette and bachelor party was a fun night. It was good to let my hair down with my brothers, Zara, Knox, and the MC.
“Do you want me to help you pack your bags tomorrow?”
I raise a brow at him and purse my lips.
“I know you want to,” he purrs.
“Oh really?” I ask sarcastically. “What makes you think that?”
