“You. Are. Bored.”

I huff. “I’m actually very busy.” I don’t have much time to myself.

“You’re bored with your routine and your perfect life.”

A tinge of annoyance strikes me, even though there may be some truth to it. “You don’t know me!”

His expression darkens. His fingertips graze my arm, feather-like, from my shoulder slowly down to my wrist, making my body shudder from only his touch. He smirks devilishly, savoring the reaction he’s extracting from me.

He lowers his head so that our faces are only inches apart. His eyes burn into mine. “I’d like to get to know you,” he says in a tone that’s both seductive and a breathy plea.

I briefly think I should pull away, but the other ninety-nine percent of me is screaming not to. I focus on his full lips, and my self-control disappears. I lean in, close my eyes, and bring my lips to his. He kisses back hard. As our mouths move in sync, his tongue seeks entry. I don’t deny him. I meet his tongue, melting into him.

My arms slither over his shoulders and to the back of his neck as our tongues whirl feverishly together. He groans, and it vibrates right through me. The ache between my legs comes hard and fast. He takes from my mouth, greedily… possessively. My body overheats as the passion increases in intensity.

He pulls me closer to him, our tongues dueling fiercely, taking what we want. My heart thumps as he devours me, but then he retreats and I’m left breathless and yearning for more. He tugs my arms from his shoulders, then takes my left hand in his while his other hand goes to his pocket. He pulls out my wedding ring and slides it back onto my ring finger.

“Stay with me for one month. You never know—you might enjoy yourself.”

I know I will. One month with a sexy biker and extra time with my family… It’s not a terrible idea. My resolve vanishes and my body buzzes as I half laugh at being reckless… again! “Okay,” I answer him. “I’ll stay.”

Viper’s lips curve up into a wicked grin as his eyes dance with victory.

LET’S PLAY A GAME

“Yes, I know I’m an idiot.”

Lawson chuckles. “Why does Viper get under your skin? Any other man you’d be telling to go F himself, so why is he different?”

It’s morning, and I chuck the third shot of whiskey down my throat and slam the glass on the table. I feel like an alcoholic, but desperate times call for desperate measures. “First, I never married any other guy, so there was no obligation to stick around.”

His eyes narrow. “Don’t bullshit. Our lawyer would find a way to get you out of the marriage without his signature.”

I flinch. I’ve come to talk to Lawson because he’s smart and levelheaded. Lawson is right. I break eye contact and shrug lazily. “I don’t know… maybe it will be fun.” I haven’t experienced a rush of excitement in a long time.

“How are you going to go living out in the wilderness?”

I shiver. “What do you mean, the wilderness?” The clubhouse seemed out of the way, but I guess I wasn’t too interested in the surroundings when I first went there. All I wanted was for Viper to sign the divorce papers.

“The MC is on the edge of the national park. You have to take a gravel road to even get out there. Going from the city to the wilderness is going to be a dramatic change, don’t you think?”

I gulp heavily. “Nothing I can’t handle.” I say it with confidence, even though I certainly don’t feel it.

He chuckles louder this time. “I give you a week… Think bears, raccoons, coyotes, mountain lions… should I go on?”

I shake my head. “You’ve made your point. The men in the MC are tough… they’ll protect me.”Well… they’d better.

“Have you told Dad yet?”

Just the thought of him knowing has me filling up another shot. “No.”

“If he doesn’t know already, he will find out.”

I toss the drink back; the burn lessens with every shot. “I don’t need the lecture… yes, I screwed up. I know it.”
