He shifted, and she felt him still hard beneath her.
“But you didn’t…”
“But you did. That’s what counts.” He nudged her, and she stood on trembling legs until he rose and steadied her.
“Oh, Evan. That was so… I mean, I haven’t, not with someone else, in…” Realizing what she’d admitted to, she blushed harder.
“Your face is what they call fire-engine red, I’d say.”
“Shut up.”
He chuckled. “And still beautiful. How about that?”
“You didn’t feel what I did.” She motioned to his prominent erection. “Do you want me to—”
He took her hand and kissed it. “Today was for you. And to make you feel so guilty for leaving me in this state that you go out with me again.”
She had to laugh at the sly look he shot her from beneath his lashes. “Well, what’s in it for me?”
“Hmm. How about a bribe? I’ll help you fix your broken-down hovel of a house.”
She frowned. “Hovel?”
“Hey, I like your place. You’re the one saying it’s got so many problems.” When she didn’t respond, not sure what to say, he added, “I want to date you. There. I said it. Is that so bad?”
“Evan, I like you. And I love what we just did, but—”
He put a finger over her lips, one that hadn’t been inside her. She wanted to be more in awe of what they’d just done, and she would be when she thought about it later, but right now she was still in that state of pleasure overload.
“Kenzie, I just want a chance to get to know you. No agenda, no promises you think I’ll break later. And I know this isn’t easy for you. We can date, just you and me, without everyone knowing. That way there’s no pressure on you to affect your family. What do you say? When’s the last time you did something you wanted to do for you? And yes, I am something you want. Admit it.”
“Well, I don’t know…” She placed her hands on his chest, thrilled when he tensed and swallowed audibly. She’d never had so much power before. Evan had pretty much laid it out on the line. He wanted her, and he wanted to date her. But he wasn’t pressuring her for anything more than a chance to…what? Give her more orgasms?
Was she stupid? Of course not.
“Okay. You and I can go out, date, I guess. But privately. Our business is no one else’s. I’m not trying to hide you, but—”
“Kenzie, I get it.” He pushed her hair behind her ear, looking so happy.
His joy, because she’d agreed to just date him, broke something inside her. That huge wall holding any possibility of a relationship at bay started to crumble. And yeah, he’d softened her with sex. But it had beensoooogood. And he hadn’t asked for anything in return.
“I think you should go.” He gestured her toward the door. “Before you change your mind or I mess this up.”
She laughed. “You just want me to leave remembering how good it was.”
“Yep.”
She stared at his bulge between his legs. “But Evan, how do I know you’re not hiding something?” Feeling playful with a man and not nervous or worried about failing future relationships was new. And thrilling.
“Kind of hard to hide how I’m feeling right now.” He glanced down at himself.
“But what if you’re too small?”
He blinked. “Are you seriously asking about the size of my dick?”
“I should see it to be sure, shouldn’t I?” She had no idea where this brazen, sexy woman was coming from, but she loved it.
His eyes widened, comically so. “Kenzie, today was for you. Trust me when I say I’m hung like a horse. You keep teasing me and you’ll see a lot more than you want to.”
