“I won’t,” I immediately answer. If only he knew I’ve accepted that I was destined to stand next to her in life. She is my destiny as well.
Chapter 77
Anu-Ms K
Daniel and I returned from London happy. Dad was delighted when Daniel’s dad called and his sister Sarah agreed to make a quick stop to introduce herself, which was my first time meeting her as well. Overall, we were all happy, until Daniel started driving me crazy.
We made our first visit to my doctor soon as we returned from London. Dr Michel answered all Daniel’s questions, though I could tell he was close to frustrating her, but she handled him well. She recommended an Obstetrician to us that handles patients with sickle cell. Needless to say, it took a lot for the Dr not to tag me as difficult before I became her patient.
“I will make the next doctors visit alone,” I say to Daniel on our way home.
“No, you will not. I need to be there,” he sternly states.
“I think most women make their visit just fine without their husbands questioning the doctor’s intellect,” I say with a raised brow.
“I didn’t do that.”
“You were pretty close to it.”
“Fine. Next time I will be quiet.” He scowls.
“There won’t be a next time because you are not coming with me.”
“Will see,” he challenges.
“Yeah, will see. Zack, can you pull over? I need to walk home,” I say to Zack, who has become my driver lately. Knowing we are just a block away from home.
“Don’t you dare pull over, Zack,” Daniel shouts.
“Zack,” I say in a gentle tone and lock eyes with him in the mirror
“Yes, Mrs Wyler.” He turns his left signal on and pulls to a stop.
“Zack, do not fucking open that door.” Daniel shouts.
“Boss, she makes pastries for me.”
Daniel burst into laughter and turns to me.
“You are paying him with pastries too?” I shrug and notice Zack smiling. “Fine, you can go to the next visit on your own, but as our pregnancy progresses. I’m coming with you.”
“Okay,” I say smiling.
He takes my hand and kisses it.
“Zack, next time you think it’s okay to drop my pregnant wife off on the street, you ass is fired and blacklisted. Got it?” I see the grumpy look.
“Yes, boss,” he says.
“I got you, Zack,” I say to poke Daniel. He just shakes his head at me.
When we pull up at the building, my phone rings. It’s Jordan. I answer it.
“MAK, don’t head to the studio. It’s on fire.”
“What do you mean it’s on fire?” I put the phone on speaker so Daniel can hear.
“I don’t know how it happened, but the fire broke somewhere in the building, Sean went to check it, and he got burned. Paramedics are taking him to the hospital. I’m heading there to check on him.”
