“A million, then,” he immediately says. This guy must not know about me.
“I’ll advise you to quit while you can. As you said before, you are rich, good-looking and charming. Find another woman for tonight, and every other night.”
“I want her,” he firmly states, looking straight at me, like we are in a standoff.
“You are never getting her,” I sternly reply with a daring stare before turning to leave.
I meet Anu halfway in the hall. She’s all smiles.
“Guess what?” she cheerfully asks.
“What?” I smile, hiding my anger.
“Jordan got nominated for the grammy’s, and it’s the album I tuned.”
“Whoa, that’s wonderful!” I pull her into a hug. “You did it, Anu.”
“I can’t believe it.”
“I believe it; you are amazing.”
“Thank you. The kids are going to be so excited when I tell them that Jordan wants to do a version with them to promote the program.”
“That’s great! Cara is totally going to fall in love with you now.”
“I love her too.”
“Come on, let’s head home.”
“Don’t you need to say goodbye to your client?”
“No, what I need is you in my arms.” She bats her eyes at me, with a sexy smile. Her flirting is working.
“Shall we?” she asks, purring. I love her flirty games.
Chapter 63
Daniel
I walk into the office. I don’t want to be here. It was hard dragging myself away from Anu. I didn’t want to leave her. Her soft and warmth were all I needed today, but fucking Aaron kept calling. I had to put my phone in silence.
I barely have my coffee when he bursts in like fire is up his ass, and he needs my help to put itout.
“Spencer is not signing the deal,” he sputters. He looks like he’s about to scream but making herculean effort to control himself.
“Why?” I ask, unrattled by his discomfiture.
“Because…” He pauses to control himself. “Because he said he wants a date with some girl he saw you with last night, and he won’t sign.”
My jaw tightens. I turn a lasered look to Aaron. I lean back in my chair. A sad chuckle escapes me. Spencer wants a fight, then he gets a fight.
I get up and button my jacket. Aaron is next to me.
“Can you just give her to him, so we can close this deal?” he rattles.
I don’t respond and continue toward the conference room.
“Everybody out,” I shout the moment I step into the room. They all leave. I move closer to Spencer, pull a chair, sit and face him. He looks at me with a smirk on his face.
