He smiles.
“Yes, princess, in a few minutes.”
I nod and turn to my side. He kisses me again.

I close the door and exhale a shit ton of relief. I got on my knees and begged today, something I’d never done in my life. But the fact is, I would have crawled if she’d asked. I needed her forgiveness, and I absolutely need her in my life. My heart dropped when she said she’d accepted her dad’s offer. That ripped my heart out, because I know how much she dislikes the idea of marrying someone she isn’t interested in, and the fact I pushed her to the point. My chest tightens at the thought.
I go to the kitchen to pour myself a drink. The liquid slowly fills my blood stream to calm my racing heart. She may have forgiven me, but I know I still have lots of bridges to cross to get us back to where we were. I return to the room to remove my clothes and get in bed with her. When I pull her closer to me, she doesn’t resist. Relief washes over me. I close my eyes and sleep with her in my arms.
We’ve moved back to her unit, so she’s close to the hospital. We are slowly getting back in our rhythm. I made another trip to New York which was supposed to be a day trip but ended uptaking three, I arrived this morning and came straight to court for my sister’s friend’s case.
I won the case; it was challenging but my sister’s friend is happy that we came to an agreement that favors her. Her crazy ex just lost, and he can stop harassing her, he only gets the amount he initially agreed to at the signing of the business not a penny more despite his colorful efforts. I call her and she can’t thank me enough. I get up and head towards the door.
Before me stands the one woman I didn’t expect to seefucking Sophieand as always, my stoned wall is immediate even as she wears a flirtatious smile. To my shock, I feel the twitch in my pants, no fucking way is my body responding to this woman. There’s got to be some twisted error in the guy down there.
It only responds to one, it must be because I haven’t seen her in three days, and I came straight here the moment I landed this morning.
I pick up my phone to call her, then I hear the breezy laugh that always calms me. I start to look around, and I find Anu laughing with a boy about ten years old. She’s wearing her signature silk shirt with a pair of cargo pants. The boy is giving her a fist bump. My feet are moving in her direction before my brain recognizes it.
I get to her and wrap my arms around her waist, she’s startled and turns to see who’s got a hand on her waist and ass, she smiles when she sees me. Wrapping her arms around me to hug me.
“This is a pleasant surprise” I say
She pulls from the hug and smiles. “Nkem had to stop by the courthouse to get some stuff taken cared of, I didn’t know youwere here.” I hear a cough; we both turned to see the boy she was smiling with.
“This is my boyfriend, Mr. Wyler” she says to the boy, who frowns at me.
“Please don’t tell me he’s jealous of me.” I whisper
“Something like that.” she jokes, grinning.
“See you around Ms K,” the boy says giving her a fist bump and walking away.
“I can’t leave you, for a second without worrying about some little boy planning to steal you from me,” I tease.
“Don’t hate because you are not a ray of sunshine.” She playfully says, I laugh.
“Can we leave?” I ask in a deep low growl, breathing her in. She turns to me and locks eyes with me, I see the desire in her eyes, she has missed me too. She catches her breath for a moment
“Let me check on Nkem, you know she wouldn’t forgive me if I leave without her knowing.” I nod as she kisses my cheek and goes into one of the rooms to check on Nkem. The moment she leaves. I sense Sophie is next to me.
“I see you found a new interesting flavor.” It’s fucking Sophie again when will this crazy bitch get the message that I don’t want her ever.
“Fuck you and stay the fuck away from me.” I say walking away to meet up with Anu, she's coming towards me. I take her hand and continue towards the exit.
“Are you okay?” She asks.
“Yeah, why do you ask?”
“You looked like you wanted to punch her, is she an opposing lawyer?”
“She’s just a lawyer that I don’t like.”
She nods
