Adam blushed.

“Just wanted to make sure you’re okay.” He got up and gave Bas his back. “Maybe you could put some clothes on?”

“Don’t want to see me in all my queenly glory? Your boyfriend was looking his fill.” Bas knew that Adam wouldn’t get drawn into his teasing but still loved to see Adam blush. “He did say something about my ass not being as fine as yours. How often has Ru been staring at your ass, young Mr. Corbin?”

Adam gasped. “Ru!”

Ru laughed and wrapped Adam up in a hug and leaned in for a kiss.

“Not nearly as much as I’d like. You have a fine ass, baby.”

Bas dug out a pair of boxers and the sweats/T-shirt combo he usually wore to bed. He slipped into the clothes, not caring if the other two were watching. They were too busy being crazy in love with each other. It shouldn’t have bothered him, but it did, if only because he hadn’t yet found that for himself. He cursed Disney movies and romantic comedies for convincing him he needed true love and not just hot sex.

After he was dressed, he pulled a comb through his hair and stared at his friends who seemed to be waiting for him. Ru held Adam, and Adam curled himself up in Ru’s embrace. They looked great together, the picture of fairy-tale love, though Bas knew it certainly wasn’t that easy.

“I’m good,” he told them. “You don’t have to linger. Go home, enjoy each other. Don’t let me ruin your spring break. Go back to California. The sun felt great for the few hours I was there.”

Ru shook his head.

“We’re staying. Mr. and Mrs. C left while you were in the shower. Adam brought in our bags.” He looked around. “This place is huge. Seven bedrooms, four baths. Bigger than my place in Cali. And I have a maid. We’re here to help you clean, move things, get rid of things, paint. Whatever you need. All week.”

Bas blinked at his friends. Three of the bedrooms were filled with boxes that not even his grandmother remembered the contents of. Another two hadn’t been touched in years. And then there was the garage apartment—a pack rat’s paradise.

“But you were supposed to be enjoying the sunshine all week. Not digging through my grandmother’s dusty things with me.”

“No place we’d rather be than here,” Adam said. “’Sides, your Gran asked us to help you get stuff sorted. Ru called the VA already. They are dropping off a trailer we can fill with stuff for donation, and my dad is going to have a Dumpster delivered for any junk. This is your home now. So let’s make it feel like home.” Adam motioned to the room. “Not just this tiny space.”

“We’re going to sleep on the couch tonight. Hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow we’ll have one room cleaned up enough to use. We knew it would be a little awkward with your Gran’s room. So we’ll save that one for last.” Ru grabbed Adam’s hand and pulled him toward the door. “Now get some sleep. We’ll see you in the morning.”

Bas had to blink back tears again as they left his room for the night. What had he done to deserve such great friends? He crawled into his bed and fell asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow.
