Jacob was happily munching on his breakfast. Well, not happily, but he was eating his toast. Clairmont had brought breakfast into him earlier, along with the aforementioned toast, there was orange juice, a banana and one slice of bacon. He wasn’t sure he could eat it all, but he appreciated the butler's kindness.
“Bacon cures everything,” Clairmont told him.
Jacob grinned. “Yes, it totally does. Thanks, Mr Clairmont.”
“Just Clairmont, Master Jacob,” the butler replied.
“As long as you just call me Jacob.”
The butler nodded. “I can do that.”
“Thank you.”
“Can I get you anything else, sir?”
“Just Jacob,” he reminded Clairmont. “Do you know where my laptop is?”
“I believe it is in your room, shall I fetch it for you?”
“Please, but only if it’s no bother.”
Clairmont touched his arm. “It’s no bother. I’ll get it for you now. Also, I checked on Lord Frank and Master Joe earlier, both were happily sharing breakfast and getting to know each other.”
“Thanks for letting me know.”
“I’ll get your laptop now,” Clairmont said, turning and leaving the room.
Jacob laughed to himself. What were the odds that Joe arrived yesterday and found his mate today, and that said mate was father to his mate?
Maybe the fates paired Finn and Jacob together so Jacob could reject him and they all find their perfect mates. There must have been an easier way to go about it though, maybe a less painful way.
Definitely a less painful way.
Clairmont was back a few moments later. “Here you go,” the butler said, handing Jacob’s laptop to him.
“Thanks,” Jacob said.
“I’ll leave your orange juice and banana on your table and take the tray. If you need anything, just use the phone there, and dial 1,” he said, putting the bits down.
Jacob looked towards the phone and nodded. “I will do, thanks.”
And picking up the tray, Clairmont left the room.
Jacob shifted around a bit but stopped when pain shot through his middle. He looked at his stomach. “Just heal, dammit.”
“If only it was that easy,” Berni said, walking into the room.
Jacob grinned. “It was worth a try.”
Berni laughed and walked over to the bed, sitting down on Fran’s chair. “Fran has been sent to bed.”
“Thanks. I know he slept some last night, but not enough after being so busy at the hospital yesterday.”
Berni grinned. “You’ll make my nephew a caring mate.”
“I can only hope so,” Jacob muttered.
“You will be. Now while I’m here, I imagine we both have questions. Who wants to start?”
