pinpoint any clue in the conversation. “I made a soda brew where I was

trying to get to the truth. Trying to figure out his true feelingsand nothing

“Look, you ain’t getting any answers from him. Maybe stop making

people drinks with weak caffeine. You keep knocking them out!” “Did you want the drinks instead?” Jacob asked.

“If you’re offering, I’ll take a glass.” Teddy responded.

“That had enough sugar in there to kill you Teddy.”

“Don’t threaten me with a good time!” he spat. “Now if you’ll excuse

me, I need to get popcorn and vomit out of my feathers, thank you very

Teddy waddled back into the bathroom, and Jacob peered into the

bedroom to see Joe still laying on the bed. Whatever he wanted to tell him,

he was fighting it. What was he hiding? And why?

Jacob felt his phone ring. Thomas- At first his instinct was to hang up,

but he answered.

“Hey Jacob. You keeping okay?” Thomas asked.

“Yeah Tom- what’s up?” Jacob asked.

“You sound stressed.”

“I guess I’m just tired.”

“You work in a coffee shop. How can you be tired?” Thomas laughed. “Because I work in a coffee shop.” Jacob huffed.

“Do you need me to bring you anything tomorrow?” Thomas asked. “I appreciate it, but no. I’m good. Thanks though.” Jacob paused as he

thought about it. This sounded like a casual phone call. Thomas had never
