I groaned. “This doesn’t exactly help.”
Lucas pressed his fingers to his lips and made a thoughtful sound. “Tell her when it feels right.”
I hunched my shoulders. “How am I going to know that? I’m still coming to grips with these overwhelming feelings.”
“You’ll know.” Sebastian gave me a sage nod. “You’llknow.”
I gave them each a skeptical look. If they hadn’t handled the situation with their mates well, how would I do any better?
“Vampire coming through,” a man’s voice announced from another room. “Is it safe?”
My muscles tightened. I’d never met a vampire before and didn’t know what to expect.
“Shades are drawn,” Lucas said.
A dark-haired, pale-skinned man with bright blue eyes and a grim expression entered. “Good. I don’t feel like becoming toast crunch.” He caught my gaze. “Hey, I’m Diego.”
He was friendlier than I expected. I stood. “Austin.”
“Bear shifter meet vampire,” Lucas introduced as he gestured to each of us. He then turned to me. “What’s your last name, man?”
“Towers. Yes, I’m aware of what it rhymes with.”
“Austin. Austin Towers,” Lucas imitated Mike Myers. Then his eyes widened, and he exploded into laughter. Sebastian and Diego followed.
“Very funny.” I half-rolled my eyes.
“I know, you must have heard about it a thousand times,” Lucas said, covering his chest. “It sounds like witches cackling at a coven rave in here.”
Sebastian rose. “I’ve got to head out to work.” As he walked by, he patted my shoulder. “Good luck. If you need anything, let us know. We’ve all been there.”
“Been where?” Diego asked.
Lucas groaned. “Vampires. Always late to the party and need to have everything told to them again.”
After Sebastian left, Lucas filled Diego in. Zoe came home soon after, and Lucas introduced her as his mate. She was petite, barely five feet with pointy ears that poked through her hair. Nova came over a few minutes later, and Diego introduced her. They looked familiar from their matchmaking efforts at the Danger Zone as they hid in the shadows.
Lucas blurted out, “Austin’s in a tricky pickle—Pandora is his mate.”
I jerked my head in his direction.
“Oh, that’s wonderful!” Nova clasped her hands together.
“Why not announce my inner turmoil on a billboard in Times Square?” I muttered in a dry tone.
“What? It shouldn’t be a secret,” Lucas said. “This isyour matewe’re talking about.”
“And I haven’t said anything to her yet.” I turned to all of them. “None of you can say a thing.”
Zoe tightened her lips and then tipped her head. “Can we help in some way? Maybe get the two of you together?”
I wagged my index finger. “No way. I know you were all involved in the shenanigans at the Danger Zone.”
Lucas arched a brow. “Did it get you to spend some time together?”
“Yes, but—”
“You’re welcome,” he said, cutting me off.
