A wide, delighted grin spread across his face.“Now that’s the answer I was hoping for.”He took the ring out of the box and slipped it on her finger.

She stared down at her hand and slowly moved it back and forth, letting the light hit the stone.“I love this ring.”

“I’m glad.”He pulled her into his arms and kissed her.“You made me the happiest man in Moonbeam.”

She leaned against him, letting it all sink in.

She had just gotten engaged.

She was going to marry Barry.

Happiness swept through her. This was one change that she was actually looking forward to.

Donna and Barry enjoyed a nice dinner ofsomething…she wasn’t really sure. She knew they had ordered. And she’d eaten. But everything seemed like a blur right now. They finished the meal by splitting a piece of delicious chocolate cake. Nowthatshe remembered.

A knock sounded at the door to their private room.“Come in,”Barry called out.

Delbert stood in the door with a grin on his face.“Okay, I asked your server if Donna was wearing the ring. So I assume she said yes?”

“You knew about this?”She asked.

“Yes, Delbert helped me plan all of this and make it all special.”

“It was special.”She smiled at Del.“And yes, I said yes.”

“I’m very happy for both of you. Couldn’t happen to nicer people. So have you set a date yet?”

“I…no…we haven’t really talked about it,”she said. Oh, there was going to be so much planning to do.

“The sooner the better as far as I’m concerned.”Barry’s mouth spread into a coaxing grin.“Right?”

“It takes time to plan a wedding. And we’ll have to find a venue. They book out quickly here in Moonbeam.”And wheredidshe want the wedding?

“You could have it here at The Cabot. In the ballroom,”Delbert offered.“I’d love to host the wedding for you.”

“Oh, that’s kind…but I’m hoping for a smaller wedding, I think.”She turned to Barry.“Is that okay? Smaller?”

“I’m happy with whatever you want. Anything. But I’ll add again, the sooner the better.”

“We’ve almost finished renovating the covered pavilion beside the hotel. You’ve seen it, right? It looks out over the harbor. It will hold up to 120 guests or so. We’re hoping it will be popular as a rental space. You could kick off our events. We don’t have any reservations for the pavilion yet. The view from there is fabulous, and with it being covered, you can have an outside wedding without worry about a rain shower popping up.”

“That might work.”She nodded. She liked that idea. Outside without worry about the unpredictable pop-up storms that often plagued the area. Looking out over her beloved bay. It sounded perfect.

“So how soon?”Barry’s eyes twinkled with excitement.

She laughed.“I don’t know. I need some time to plan. How about in three to four months?”

“One,”he countered emphatically.

She looked over at him with his eager expression, and she couldn’t find one reason to delay. She was just as eager to marry him and start their life together.“The Harbor Festival is in a few weeks. That’s going to keep us busy. But then…after that? How about six weeks?”

“I’ll take it.”Barry got up, came around to her side of the table, and pulled her to her feet, wrapping his arms around her.“I’m one lucky guy, Delbert.”

“You are.”Delbert nodded.“I’ll leave you two alone. And congrats.”

She looked up into Barry’s eyes.“Six weeks. That’s not much time.”

“I’d marry you tomorrow if you’d say yes to it.”His eyes shone with happiness.
