I picture Jake’s chest and realize that there is bare skin inthat area. I just assumed it was part of a design and meant to be that way.
“I have to admit, that’s the most sweetestandsexiest thing you guys have ever come up with. I hope the guy I meet isn’t afraid of needles,” Savi says to her brothers.
“If he’s afraid of needles, there’s no chance he’ll get past your brothers,” Sophia laughs. “It’s going to take a strong guy to get past the barrier.”
“Damn right, it will,” Miles scowls. “He has to prove he’s worthy, or he won’t be stepping a foot into our house.”
“Back off, guard dog.” Savi rolls her eyes and takes a sip of wine. “It doesn’t matter anyway. No one has even come close to waking my kitty up. I’ll probably die alone surrounded by a ton of animals to keep me company.”
“Your kitty?” Sophia and I look at each other before busting out laughing.
“God, Savi,” Travis groans and rubs his hand roughly down his face.
“Well, I, for one, am glad your kitty isn’t getting woken up. Keep it that way.” Miles gives her a stern look.
“Well, we should be going now. I don’t want to be late for my appointment,” I say quickly, grabbing Savi’s hand when her eyes narrow at Miles. “Your kitty will wake up with the right guy.” I usher her to the door before her claws come out on her brother.
“They are so protective and bossy at times. I want to knock them upside the head most days,” she mutters, following me to her car.
“They just love you and don’t want to see you get hurt.” I open the door and slide into the passenger seat.
“Yeah, well, I’m not a kid anymore. I’m an adult and can make my own decisions even if they don’t agree with them.” She fastens her seatbelt, and we drive toward town.
“And I agree with you, but take it from someone who went their whole life up until now not having a single person give a shit about her. Your brothers may be overbearing at times and get on your nerves, but it’s a reminder that you have people in your life who care.”
“Geez, way to rip away my plans for seeking revenge on him tonight while he sleeps,” she chuckles. “Miles just got saved by you.”
“I’ll remind him to thank me,” I laugh.
Savi pulls up toInked, and the door already has a closed sign on it. He told me he set up an appointment when the rest of the crew was done for the night so that we could have our privacy. Butterflies begin to flutter as I put a hand to my stomach.
“Thanks for the ride.” I tear my eyes away from the display window to smile at her.
“It’s no problem. I can’t wait to see what you get.” She hugs me quickly before I step out. I smooth out my dress and glance back at the car.
“Do you think I’ll take Jake’s spot?” I ask softly through the window.
It’s probably just the nerves talking from getting my first tattoo. I know we love each other and have talked about a future, but there’s a finality to being permanently etched on someone's skin.
Savi’s blue eyes get warm as she looks at me. “I think you took that spot the day he met you at the wedding,” she smiles. “Now go make my brother drop to his knees at the sight of you.” She grins and winks at me before driving away.
I walk to the door and take a deep breath as I pull it open.
Tonight, Jake will be permanently on my skin, just like he already is on my heart.
CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE
JAKE
Ifinish cleaning my tools and walk out when I hear the front door open. Lyla texted me that she was on her way, so I left it unlocked for her. I stop when I see her and swallow hard as I take in the sight before me.
Her brunette hair is curled loosely down her back, and she’s wearing a strapless green dress that would make even the strongest man drop to his knees and beg to have the chance to worship her. I follow the length of her long, tanned legs, and when I land on the gold heels, I immediately get images of them wrapped around me.
When I finally meet her eyes, there’s no doubt she doesn’t feel the heat coming from mine as her face warms up from their piercing stare.
My body gravitates toward her as if an unseen tether is pulling me in her direction. When I reach her, I trace my fingers along her jaw before following the curve of her neck and running it along the hem of the dress covering her breasts.
“You look beautiful,” I murmur.
