“I think I might have to book an appointment with you for a weekly massage.”
“You don’t have to book. Just ask.”
“I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll certainly sleep well tonight.”
“You heading to see Grayson after?”
“Nah. I might just go home and chill for a bit.
A need to spend more time with him grips my stomach, and the words are out of my mouth before I can stop them. “How does coming back to mine for pizza sound? Celebrate a great day. I mean only if you wanted to.”
Tipping his head back, his eyes find mine before a sexy smile graces his face. “That’s the best thing I’ve heard all day.”
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
Asher
For someone wanting to keep a reasonable distance from Wade, I can’t help but find myself gravitating closer toward him by the second. I search for his eyes because I want them on me. I long for our conversations because those are the best part of my day. I crave his touch in any way I can receive it, and I’ve now accepted that my heart will always skip a beat for him whenever he enters a room.
I can’t deny my attraction, but at the same time, I’m petrified of even thinking about taking that next step.
Now I’m here, in his house and where I thought I’d be relaxed, I somehow find myself more on edge. I’ve been here before. I’m sure of it.
Rubbing the back of my neck, I walk around his kitchen area a little more, trying to cast my mind back to something that would trigger my memory. Maybe Nora has spoken about Wade’s place in detail. Maybe she’s even shown me a picture sometime. Anything. But the harder I think, the more I come up blank.
Nothing is making sense.
“You okay?”
I turn at the sound of Wade’s voice as he exits his bedroom just off the living room area. He’s changed into gray sweatpants and an oversize black vest. His feet are bare, his hair is more disheveled and his manly scent seems to be more heightened than ever.
Whether I want to deny it or not, Wade Fucking Johnson is ridiculously hot and sends all kinds of signals to my dick.
“Yeah.” I clear my throat, turning my attention back to the pizza we bought on the ride back here. “I didn’t know if you wanted them left in the box or on a plate, and I didn’t want to go looking through your stuff.”
The smell of the pepperoni pizza fills the space between us as I open the boxes, but I find Wade looking at me with an amused expression on his face as he raises one eyebrow.
“What?”
“Who even eats takeout pizza from a plate? It’s always the box.”
I chuckle. “Well, that’s true, but I didn’t want to assume you did.”
“Dude. Seriously. Next, you’ll be asking if I use cutlery,” he says, heading to the cupboard to get the ketchup.
“Do you?”
He looks at me over his shoulder and grins. “Only on a Sunday.”
“Noted.” I chuckle.
After placing the ketchup on the coffee table in the living room area, he returns and goes to the refrigerator. They say you can tell a person from what’s inside their fridge, and going by Wade’s he likes to remain healthy yet also enjoys a few treats.
“So I got these in for you and thought that maybe we could celebrate the gym opening with them?”
He turns holding two bottles of J2os—which I’ve recently got a required taste for. But that’s not what surprises me: it’s the fact he got them in with the intention I’d be here at some point tonight.
“I mean… you can have something else if you’d prefer?”
