Rule #1: Don’t break the captain’s rules.

I’m thirty-five, captain, and one hit away from a knee that ends my career. My divorce is all over the internet. The last thing I need is management rooming me with the league’s first openly gay #1 pick.
Twenty years old. Pink laces. Zero filter.
So I give him ten rules. Lights out. No photos. Keep your head down.
He breaks them all. Then he breaks me open.
One kiss on an empty rink, and suddenly I’m sneaking into his hotel room while half my locker room wants him gone and a rival wants him broken.
I’ve spent my whole life hiding who I am. He swore he’d never hide again.
The playoffs are coming. So is the truth.
And I’m about to find out which one costs me more.
