The Mobster’s Present

ASHLEIGH

When I ran away from Seattle and the man who made my life a living hell, even though I was used to being dragged through the dirt at Second Circle, I never thought I would come back. My escape was something I planned for months, but the baby I was carrying made me move faster. If I stayed, the baby stood no chance, not with a father like Romeo Amato, a man destined to live in his brother’s shadow.

My daughter’s very existence was a mistake, but she’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I’ll do anything for her, which is why I have to go back to Seattle. She’s sick and if my pride is the only thing I have to sacrifice, then it’ll be worth it to ensure she gets the best care she can. Even if that means asking a man like Romeo for help.

Finding out Romeo is dead is a surprise. If I didn’t need him alive to pay, it wouldn’t be a problem. I never saw Salvatore, Angelo’s right hand, coming. He’s wrapped us up like we matter and insists he’s never letting us go. I just can’t decide if he’s been gifted to me for sin or salvation.

SALVATORE

Honor. Duty. Loyalty. I’ve lived by those ideals my entire life and it’s brought me to stand as the right hand of Angelo Amato. I’ve earned my place with blood, time, and bits of my soul.

In the wake of death, there are always messes to clean up. After Angelo’s brother was given the end he earned, more sins than we imagined have come to light. I find myself thinking that Romeo’s death was too merciful with every depravity and torture we uncover.

My entire world detonates when Ashleigh shows up with fear written all over her face and determination in her eyes. Watching her hope die when she learns about Romeo’s death, not for herself but her daughter, only makes me want to protect her more. I’ve never been a man to miss an opportunity; my woman and daughter are presents I never expected but won’t ignore. They’re mine.

You’ll still find an insta-love story that is spicy and isn’t necessarily simple, but with darker themes, situations, spicy times and depictions of violence (not between the MMC and MFC).
