In the wake of a most mortifying refusal at Hunsford Parsonage, Elizabeth Bennet believes Mr Darcy’s ardent declarations are forever extinguished. His proposal had been as surprising as it was impolite, arrogant, and insensitive. He had declared his ardent love and admiration while insisting it had arisen against his will and judgment.
