On paper, I’m a lawyer. In practice, a cleaner.
I make witnesses go away so they can’t testify against his cases, cover up murders for his shady clients.
It’s gruesome work, and I would love nothing more than to be in a courtroom instead.
So when I return home to make sure my father doesn’t condemn my younger brother to the same fate, I’m pissed to find that my brother has already entangled himself in a murder.
All to help a girl and her older sister.
I should put a bullet in both of them. That’s what my father would want. No loose ends falling back on the family name..
But Kira Noland is a thorn in my ass. She’s too beautiful to kill, has too much tenacity to snuff out.
The fight in her is admirable. Even as her heart falls apart, she just won’t quit.
I have to have her even if she doesn’t want me, have to help her even if she doesn’t want it.
But if our father finds out, she’s dead, and if the detective snooping around finds one shred of evidence, she’s incarcerated.
Neither is acceptable, and if I have to, I’ll burn down everything to protect her.
