In Too Long

I was really excited to start my freshman year.
Again.

I was supposed to be a sophomore, hanging with the girls I’d started with last year, but I’d spent that year back home dealing with the fallout on my family from my mom’s death. Now I was back, and ready to have a year full of fun, friends, partying and guys. Many guys.
But only one stood out.
He was a hockey player and I’d been warned that they didn’t do girlfriends. That point was driven home to me the first night we met. But that was fine, that’s not what I wanted either. A hot, sexy, one-nighter with a gorgeous guy (with a body that was supremely sculpted from all that ice time) was going to be the perfect start to my Do-Over year.
But we had to spend more time together. In a setting that demanded we be open and honest with our feelings, which was not what either of us wanted. Our attraction to each other was a barrier to all I wanted from my long-awaited freshman year. But it was so, so good.
I didn’t want anything heavy. Something short and sweet was fine, but as soon as I met him, short went out the window and I was…In Too Long.
