I had met most of the girls last night, but there were two I hadn’t met. And a baby.

“Holy cow,” Greta gasped. “How did you manage to get away from Marco?”

The woman rolled her eyes and bounced the baby on her hip. “He freed me from my cell for the morning.” The woman nodded to me. “I’m Royal, and this is Kane.”

“She’s married to the mafia.” Greta wiggled her eyebrows.

“You grew up with the mafia,” Royal retorted.

Greta shrugged. “Touché.”

“Wait for me!” Luna cruised by us and parked a few spaces down. She jogged over and threw her arm around Greta’s shoulder. “Next time, it would be great if you would give me more than half an hour's notice, yeah?”

“You, too?” I gasped. “She texted me asking if I was dressed and then had Gwen drag me out of bed.”

“I did not drag you out of bed,” Gwen called. “I just knocked aggressively on the door.”

“Let’s get this show on the road,” Indiana called. “I’ve got a pole class to teach at one, and I told Frost I would drop off some cheese curds.”

Meg rubbed her hands together. “I hope they are squeaky today.”

“Squeaky?” I asked.

“Girl,” Greta called. “You’ve never had a squeaky cheese curd?”

I shook my head and fell in step next to Gwen.

“To the cheese curds,” Luna hollered. “We have to show Birdie what she has been missing.”

For the next two hours, all the girls showed me everything I was missing according to them. My debit card was well-used, and I could barely carry all of my bags.

“It smells like ass.” Meg shook her head and handed Marley back the candle she had just bought.

“It does not smell like ass. It’s lilac,” Marley corrected.

“Ass,” Meg hissed. “Lilac and lavender smell like ass.”

“Well,” Marley drawled, “I guess my house is going to smell like ass, then. I happen to like the way it smells.”

Meg glanced at me and smirked.

“I think Kane and I are done,” Royal sighed. “He needs a diaper change, and mommy could use a margarita.”

“Here, here,” Luna shouted. “I say we have a feast of nachos and tacos for lunch.”

“I’m in,” Royal laughed.

“Do you want to come with us?” Gwen asked.

I didn’t really have much of a choice since Greta was my ride. “I am always up for tacos and margaritas.”

Greta and Gwen helped load all of our bags into the car, and we formed a convoy over to the Mexican restaurant.

Your mom and sister kidnapped me.

What?

“Are you texting Easy?” Greta asked.
