“I mean, I know you’ve had your share of women. But.” He shrugs. “I think I also knew that Griffin was more than just a friend. And it doesn’t come as a surprise.”

“You’re shitting me, right? Did Haley tell you?”

“No, lad.” Callum’s laughing, holding his stomach. “No, she didn’t.”

My hand comes to my face and I release a heavy breath. “Jesus. I was not expecting this.”

That sobers him, and he quiets, his body stiffening. “What were you expecting?”

I scrub a hand over my mouth. “I don’t know, honestly.”

“Paddy. I’ve always put our family before business.Always.Do you really think I’d be angry about this?”

“I don’t know, Callum. Normal families get torn apart over this. And we’re in the fucking mob. So yeah, I think maybe I expected you to be angry. This comes out, and I’m a weakness here. Do you think other factions will tolerate a man who fucks other men? That Camille’s father would allow this? We’re about to start multiple wars.”

Callum snorts, unimpressed. “Anyone who has an issue with what you do will meet my knife, Paddy. There are plenty of gay men in organized crime. I don’t see how it’s anyone’s business.”

“For the record, I’m not gay. I’m bi.”

“Clearly. You have a son on the way.” He takes a sip of his drink, not even trying to contain his broad smile. “Jesus, fuck. My baby brother is going to be a father.”

I grin, too. “Unreal, isn’t it?”

“But it’s weird. I remember that night. You were very clear with Camille that you weren’t interested in her.”

I shake my head. “I thought so, too. I remember I was with Griffin. It doesn’t seem like me… to cheat on him like that. But the baby’s mine.”

“You mean you don’t remember?”

“I remember waking up alone in my hotel room, and I don’t remember what we did or how I got there. I must have been pretty drunk.”

“Huh,” he says. The wheels in his mind are spinning as if he’s trying to come up with a plan. “If you’re married, I can use that to pacify her father. That needs to be discussed with Griffin, since I won’t force him to marry you if he doesn’t want it.”

“Thank you, Callum. Really. This has gone way better than I expected.”

He nods, that stupid happy grin still on his face. “I can’t wait to meet my nephew.”

It’s my turn to sport the goofy smile. “Yeah.”

“Do you want me to speak with Griffin?” He asks. “About the marriage?”

“I think I should do it.”

“Okay. Family dinner tomorrow to tell everyone else?”

“Yeah. I’d like Camille to be here by Friday. I don’t want her to be bombarded with our crew right away. We can do something small again on Monday to introduce everyone.”

“That’s a great idea,” Callum says. “And I’d like Griffin to be there tomorrow, too.”

“I don’t know how Camille will take that, Cal.”

“That’s the point, Paddy. I want to see her true colors. Figure out if this truly was an accident, or if she targeted our family on purpose.”

I rub the back of my neck. “I hadn’t thought of that. You really think she’d have a child with me on purpose?”

Callum shrugs. “Think about it, Paddy. If you and Griffin were together, would you have so easily slept with someone else?”

My spine stiffens. “I suppose not.”
