“So, what do you two ladies have plannedthis evening?” Cooper asks, leaning against the back of the elevator.
“Dinner, shopping, a show, and thendancing.” Laura nudges my arm because shopping really isn’t on the list.
“Oh yeah, what show?” Cole looks at me.
I shrug and glance at Laura.
“The Thunder Down Under.”
My mouth pops open. “Really?” I feelCole’s hand on my ass and even though I know it’s coming, I jump when hepinches me.
“Oh please. Tell me you’re not going tosome strip club?” Laura eyes Cole.
“A strip club?” I make my eyes wide andpout my lips.
“Oh god.” I hear Kit mutter. “I can’tlook at you, Kate. You’ll make feel guilty and you’re not even my wife, and Iplan on having a very good time tonight. No, I take it back, make that an epictime.”
“I’ll be good. If you’ll be good.” Colerubs his hand up and down my back.
“Don’t worry, Cole. I was late getting ticketsand our seats are in the nosebleed section.”
“I’ll be good, I promise.” And I kiss himon the cheek.
“I promise too.” Cole kisses me again. The elevator opens to the lobby and we all file out. “Hold up.” Cole hooks hisarm around mine.
“Oh no, Mr. Holt, I’m not getting back inthe elevator with you.” I tease. His eyes glaze over for a minute, but heshakes his thoughts away.
“Oh, Cookie. Now I know you’ve had twogifts tonight already, but I have another one for you.”
I mentally cringe, enough with the gifts, sheesh. But this also gives me an idea. I look Cole up and down and then flickmy tongue out.
“You really are going to be the death ofme tonight.”
“Okay sorry.” I hold out my hand. “Giveit to me.”
“Okay, close your eyes.”
“Close my eyes? What kind of gift do youhave for me?”
“Just close them, please.”
I close my eyes, putting my hands overthem. “Okay, they’re closed.” With an arm around my shoulders, Cole leads methrough the lobby.
“Watch your step, we’re walking out thedoors.” After a few more feet, Cole stops. “Okay, open your eyes.”
It takes me a minute to adjust to theoutside light, but as the spots disappear from my eyes, parked in front of meis a cobalt blue convertible with a large yellow symbol with a very familiarblack stallion in the middle. “A new Ferrari, ooh—ah, wow. What is the name ofthis car?”
Cole has that mega-watt smile on hisface. “I was thinking we could call it Cookie’s California T.”
My eyes widen with surprise. “What? No!This is my car?”
“Yes baby. This is your car.”
“Oh, my freaking hell.” I jump up intoCole’s arms, my legs swinging around his hips. He takes a step back, his handswrapping under my thighs, holding me. “You know you’re insane, right? Do youremember what happened the one and only time I drove the Spider?”
“I remember, but I love you so much andbuying you anything less would be a travesty. You’ll get the hang of it. Youjust need to practice some more.”
“You spoil me. You know that, right?”
