“That’s it. You can’t talk to any of themuntil after we get back.”
“Oh sheesh. Fine, I won’t ask them.”

“What?” Oh man, he’s getting even betterat beating me. Who would have thought it? “Fine, I promise.”
“Good girl.”
“So, what are you wearing?” I sayseductively.
“Huh—you saw me this morning, the usual.”
“No Cole,what are you wearing?”
He bursts into laughter. “You’re stealingmy lines, Cookie.”
“Just trying to mull you over.”
“You’re not going anywhere in the nextlittle while, are you?”
“No, why?”
“Because I have a surprise for you.Something to tide you over. While the guys and I go out tonight.”
“You didn’t buy one of those blow updolls did you?” All I hear is noise on the phone.
“Oh god, Kate I love you.” Cole haslaughter in his voice. “No, something infinitely better, but not quite as goodas me. I’ll be home in about an hour.”
“Good grief. Cole, you know how I hatesurprises. Just tell me, please.”
“This is a good surprise, I promise.”
I blow out a frustrated breath. “Okay,I’ll see you in an hour.”
“Love you, Cookie.”
“Love you too.”
I try to go back to packing for our trip,but the fact that he won’t even give me a hint is driving me completely insane.He keeps telling me to relax, but he knows I’m a planner and can’t stand notknowing. I may have to up my game and cry about it, see if he will cave to thetears. It might be worth it.
I give up packing and try watchingtelevision, but there’s nothing good on TV in the middle of the day. I need myStar Trek DVDs. I need a job!
Around one, I hear the elevator start up.I run up the stairs, so I can get this surprise from Cole and then get thewater works going over this honeymoon thing. When the elevator slides openthough, Laura jumps out of it.
“Tada, surprise.”
I scream. “Laura.” We hug each other,jumping up and down. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m here to throw you a bacheloretteparty.”
“Really? Oh my heck, I’m so excited.” Westop jumping, both of us a bit out of breath. I really need to start workingout again. “What are we going to do?”
“I have some ideas.” She eyes Cole. “Butwe can talk about it later.”
I fling myself at Cole, wrapping my armsaround his neck. “Thank you, so much.”
