Alyssa smacked her lips, approving the shimmering nude gloss she just applied.
She smoothed her hand over the cobalt blue dress she’d picked. The color enhanced her tanned skin, and the hem whispered above her knees. She chose a dress that was cute, but not over the top because she didn’t want to give her date the wrong impression.
She sighed. She’d had the idea when she’d been out, after talking to Madison on the phone. She downloaded an app, made a quick profile, and matched with a few guys. One of them asked her out, and she messaged him back, asking him to pick her up. Not the safest option, sure, but she had a pepper spray in her small bag. Besides, she wanted for Knox to see her leaving with someone.
She’d realized that telling him she’d meet a friend wasn’t enough.
He hadn’t called to check on her or with any excuse. He hadn’t cared.
But when she mentioned a date to him, before she hopped in the shower, she’d notice a spark of surprise in his eyes. Surprise and… resentment? He didn’t look happy, and his reaction gave her a kernel of hope.
So now, all she had to do was go on a date with this guy—Cory was his name— and hope he wasn’t completely insufferable, share a drink or two with him, then come back home. Hopefully that would give Knox the kick he needed to give her a chance.
She sucked in a breath. When she heard the doorbell, she didn’t move. Her stomach tied in knots, but she had to stay in her room and pretend that she didn’t hear the door. That was the only way Knox would open, or at least acknowledge there was someone at the door.
She heard the sound of a door being open, and a quiet exchange between two men. She grabbed her bag, and opened the door, to find Knox in front of her, she almost walked into that muscly wall.
“Your date came,” he said.
She swallowed. “Thanks for opening the door.”
“You’re welcome.”
She moved around him, and added a pep in her walk. She sauntered to the living room, but didn’t see anyone. Was he waiting outside? She opened the door. Nothing. “Where is he?” she asked herself out loud. Could he be waiting in his car?
“He’s gone,” said the deep male voice.
She circled to face him. “Gone?”
He stepped toward her, and her heart beat in staccato. The air around them shifted, and that sensation she experienced before, of being cornered with his presence, came down on her with a vengeance. “Yeah.”
“Why?”
“I told him to get the fuck out of my property, and that you are not available.”
Thrills went up and down her spine. “Why would you say that?”
“I think you know why, Miss Cock Tease,” he said, then he removed his shirt and tossed it aside. “Remember, Alyssa, you’ve asked for this. And you’ll get every bit of it.”
She worried her bottom lip, her pulse thrumming at the base of her throat. Her nipples puckered, desire stirring inside her like the formation of a hurricane. Damn. Was this really happening?
He undid his zipper, and his pants fell down his thick, muscular legs. Her libido climbed another notch, her sex already wet. His eyes never left hers. Specks of silver flickered in his complex green irises. His gaze spoke of intensity, of determination… desire.
Then, he grabbed his pants and folded them.
“W-what’s happening?” she asked, confusing.
“I’m going to change my clothes. We’re going on a date.”
Alyssa’s heart skipped a beat. Well, he did say he’d give her every bit…

Knox glanced at the incredible woman sitting next to him in an intimate booth in a romantic restaurant in Malibu. He could have taken her right there and then, but he could tell even with her scheming ways, she was surprised. And she was a virgin. A cunning virgin, no doubt. But he wanted to give her, hell, give both of them time to adjust to the shifting dynamics of their relationship.
Take the edge off, so he’d make the first time good for her—and not simply fuck her dirty like a part of him wanted.
“How’s your food?” he asked.
