“It’s from a client of mine who pre-ordered these,” Carl interrupts.

“But you can’t tell me who the client is?”

“No sir, that—”

“Oh, just save me the hogwash.”

He looks at me again. “Just stop sending me those flowers.”

He storms out of the shop, slamming the doors, sending my open sign flying.

“Aggressive much!” Carl shakes his head.

My heart beats in my chest as I hold on to my daughter’s hand.

Logan is alreadyat my house when we arrive home tonight. I completely forgot it’s our dinner night. London runs off to turn on the television.

He frowns when I walk to the fridge and pull out a bottle of wine, drinking straight from the bottle.

I stare at him, the tears threatening to fall.

He opens his arms, and I walk into them and cry. He says nothing, but he holds me.

Sometimes all you need are arms around you as a reminder that no matter how fast the world keeps spinning, someone is always there to ground you.
