My three men, a voice in the back of my head whispers.
I wish.
“Something’s going on with you three,” I accuse, narrowing my eyes.
Marcus grunts and crosses his arms over his chest. He’s displeased and not hiding it.
Cole, on the other hand, is all smiles suddenly.
“I’m having the time of my life. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Gabe makes a sound in the back of his throat and my gaze turns to him.
“You guys were weird about that delivery driver.”
“Weird how?” Gabe asks, frowning.
I snort. “What, you thought you guys were hiding it? Marcus was this close to taking his head off.”
Marcus huffs but doesn’t deny it.
“He was going to ask you out,” he says stonily.
I blink at him. “He was?”
Now Cole loses his smile.
“It’s slightly alarming that you didn’t pick up on that.”
I throw my hands in the air. “I thought he was just being friendly.”
“Oh, he was friendly all right,” Gabe mutters, and my eyes snap to his.
“Didn’t peg you for the jealous type.”
“Told you I was born in Sicily,” Gabe says, as if that explains it.
“So that’s it? All three of you were what, territorial?”
“Can you blame us?” Cole asks quietly. “Look at you, princess.”
My cheeks flush as they all stare at me. I don’t know who to look at so I look out the window. Dark clouds hang in the sky.
I frown. “We should leave before the weather gets worse.”
Marcus straightens up. “The pastries?”
“They’ll be fine overnight. I’ll call Wayward Hills to come and get them tomorrow.”
He nods.
Cole’s stuffing cinnamon puffs into his pockets, and I can’t help but smile. I’ll remember they’re his favorite.
Gabe, on the other hand, hasn’t eaten at all.
“See you tomorrow, princess,” Cole murmurs, walking by, and I swallow hard as I nod at him.
Marcus gives me a long stare full of something I can’t name before following Cole without a word.
