I push open the doors.
“And you didn’t think to tell us that she was coming?” A booming male voice nearly startles me.
I recognize Marcus before he turns around.
His back is so broad it simply can’t be anyone else. My heart starts to race.
What’s he doing here?
Then it hits me. He’s probably working on the vineyard. A place like this needs constant upkeep.
Okay, okay. No big deal.
A laugh, honeyed and musical, makes me dart my eyes to the right.
Cole Hayes steps out of what appears to be an office, a charming smile already stretching his generous mouth.
“There she is.”
What does that mean? And what the hell is he doing here?
Marcus whirls around, moving faster than I’d imagined a man that size could.
Then I can see Gabe behind him. He looks slightly green.
But he smiles and his face changes when he sees me.
“Hello, Ms. Reyes.”
“Margo,” I remind him, and his smile widens.
“Yes. Margo.”
Marcus frowns, crossing his arms over his chest.
Cole just keeps smiling at me like the cat that ate the canary.
I glance over at Cole and then back at Gabe, deciding to be as professional as humanly possible.
“Where can I park? I have lots of ingredients to store in the kitchen.”
“Yes, of course.” Gabe snaps into action, walking around the front desk and putting a hand at the small of my back.
My skin heats up even through the fabric of my sweater dress.
He leads me outside, pointing out the kitchen just a few hundred feet to the right.
“If you’ll pull around there, one of us will help you unload.”
One of us.
Do they know each other? Are they, like, in some kind of silver fox club?
I just nod, doing as he says.
All three of them show up to unload my trunk.
There’s nothing for me to do but watch them lug fifty-pound bags of flour and sugar into the kitchen.
