“It’s plenty. It’s a small job.”
“What if I wanted to hire you for other jobs?”
“Then I’d give you another quote.”
She glances back down at the email. Back up at me.
“You’re sure?”
I nod, still smiling. “I’m sure. I’ll bring the rest and arrange everything once they arrive.”
“You’ll order those, too?”
I nod. “We pride ourselves on being full-service.”
Margo lets out a sigh of relief. “That’s a big load off my shoulders. Thank you.”
I like hearing that. She shouldn’t have to do every damn thing herself.
“Just doing my job.”
She glances up at me.
“Would you like a muffin? I’ve got overstock from yesterday since I closed a bit early.”
I’m not much for sweets, but I nod.
She smiles. Turns around.
I try not to watch the swing of her hips.
I feel like a dirty old man.
At least I brought a quote.
It doesn’t stop me from following her inside.
CHAPTER SIX
MARGO
Marcus Sterling is huge. Like, crazy huge.
Dios mío. From behind the counter, I watch him walk through my door. His shoulders barely fit through it. He has to turn slightly, but he seems used to it.
I glance up at him as he approaches the counter.
“How tall are you?”
I’m going to need a stepladder or a little cooperation.
“I dunno.”
I snort. “Come on. Guys as big as you must get asked this all the time.”
He gives me a smile that’s almost a smirk. “Six-foot-five.”
Christ.
