“This is insane,” I murmur as reality finally catches up with me.
Are we actually talking about being together?
“Are you sure, Zayn?” I ask again, leaving the age difference out of it this time.
With one finger, he tilts my chin up, leaving me no choice but to meet his eyes.
And the moment I do, I melt.
“I can’t look at you right now,” I confess, my voice barely audible as I squeeze my eyes shut.
“Why?” A grin appears on his handsome face, amusement warming his voice.
“Because every time you look at me, I forget who I am. And right now I’m going to embarrass myself, and I’d rather not.”
His smile widens into a richer laugh, but instead of teasing me further, he bends close again.
“Tell me nicely then,” he murmurs into the sensitive skin below my ear. “Softly.” Kiss. “Sweetly.” Kiss. “Tell me your answer, Selene.”
One arm remains wrapped securely around my waist as his other hand slips back into my hair.
“I want to hear you say you want me,” he continues, his tone low and coaxing. “That I drive you crazy the same way you—and your accent—drive me absolutely insane. That you want more than a few unforgettable nights of sex…”
“Unforgettable?”
He doesn’t answer, letting his teeth close gently around my ear in a playful warning, drawing another laugh from me.
I hide my face in his chest, the familiar scent of his cologne surrounding me, making it feel impossible to think about anything else.
“I’ll never be able to smell your perfume again without thinking about our night together,” I admit quietly, voicing the first thought that comes to mind.
Because it’s true.
A soft chuckle vibrates beneath my cheek.
“Then I’ll buy gallons of it and spray it everywhere you go.”
Smiling, I rest a hand on his chest and ease him back to put some distance between us.
“You don’t need to do that, Zayn. I promise you haven’t left my mind for a single moment.”
“I need an answer, Selene,” he says, impatience creeping into his voice despite the tenderness in his eyes.
“I can’t understand what’s happening to me. I know it probably isn’t healthy, and maybe it isn’t even right, but every time I see you or hear your voice, the whole world disappears. All I want is to have you for my…”
The rest of the sentence never leaves my lips.
His mouth captures mine, stealing every unfinished word, every lingering doubt, until the world around us fades into nothing.
I answer his kiss with the same urgency, the same desperate hunger, surrendering to everything I’ve tried so hard to resist.
Because Zayn Thomas doesn’t simply take over my thoughts.
He becomes the only thing I can feel.
