“And where did he go?”

So many questions hit the room at once that I can’t even tell who’s asking them anymore.

I focus on the information instead, desperately trying to convince myself he’s okay.

He took the Porsche, so maybe he went racing and didn’t want anyone to know.

Maybe that’s why he stopped answering me.

“Could he have gone to the races again?” Aiden asks, concern evident in his voice.

“Track the fucking car,” Ethan orders coldly.

In front of us, he fully transforms into the CEO everyone fears.

“On it already,” Tommy says quickly.

“I don’t think there are races happening this early in the day,” Kai says.

Ethan says nothing else.

He simply waits for the car’s location, his jaw tightening with every passing second.

I’m certain he doesn’t care about the fact that Zayn took his car. But besides worrying about his brother, there’s something else bothering him too.

Right now, though, I can’t focus long enough to figure out what.

My heart pounds so violently that it feels ready to burst from my chest, and my breathing turns uneven and shallow.

I need to check my phone.

Maybe Zayn messaged me.

Maybe he told me where he was going.

I stand with the intention of searching for my phone, but then I hear, “The car is a few hundred meters away from us.”

Instantly, the pressure crushing my chest loosens, and tears fill my eyes with relief.

But Ralph immediately adds, “It’s not moving. It’s in the area where the explosion happened.”

The weight slams back into my body with such force that my knees give out beneath me.

Sierra rises at the same time as Colt lunges forward and wraps an arm around me.

“Easy,” he says quietly, but everything already sounds muffled, as though I’m underwater.

“What do you mean it’s not moving?” Ethan asks sharply.

“Access the road cameras,” Ryan orders.

A few seconds later, the living room TV turns on by itself. At first, footage of the road leading to our houses appears, but there’s nothing there.

No cars.

No people.

As the footage rewinds, my heartbeat grows louder in my ears, each thud making it harder to think.
