Zayn: The Relentless Tycoon

Ethan and Nick head straight for their wives. Nick pauses halfway to scoop Serena into his arms from the floor, where she’s busy pressing random buttons on a vacuum cleaner.

I spot Selene the second I walk in, sitting on the living room couch, deep in conversation with Thalia.

When she sees me, she gives me a shy smile—which only proves that last night’s mood had a reason behind it. Otherwise, it wouldn’t still be lingering now.

She doesn’t get up to come to me, and she doesn’t kiss me when I stop beside her either.

But I hold out my hand, and she takes it. So I pull her to her feet and kiss her.

Or I try to.

Because she only brushes my lips quickly with hers, then pulls away again, smiling politely.

Yeah, something’s definitely wrong.

And I need to find out what the hell it is.

“I’d love for the project presentation to include an overview of every casino and club,” Selene says, picking up her phone from the table in front of her.

A few hours have passed since we got here, and we’re close to finishing the entire task list Thalia made this morning to make sure we wouldn’t forget anything.

Selene glances at her phone for a long moment, then visibly nods in irritation and turns her attention back to us.

“Looks like my battery died,” she announces. “Zayn, I sent you the presentation, too. Can you project your phone for a bit?”

It’s the first time she’s spoken directly to me since I got home and the first time she’s looked me in the eyes.

Even if it only lasts a few seconds.

“Sure,” I reply calmly.

Getting up, I hand her my phone, and she immediately takes a step back when she realizes what I’m offering, staring at it with wide eyes.

But I place it in her palm and return to my spot on the couch. She knows my password, so she can unlock it and find whatever she needs herself.

After recovering from the initial shock, she projects my phone onto Ethan’s wall-sized television.

Huge mistake.

Because she mirrors the screen before opening any app, the television immediately filling with a picture of her.

Biting down on my lower lip, I close my eyes and wait.

I already know what’s coming.

“That’s weird,” Liam starts. Of course it’s him. “My phone doesn’t have that wallpaper option.” A brief pause. “And it’s literally the exact same model. I think something’s wrong with mine.”

I keep my eyes shut, still biting my lip to stop myself from reacting.

“I think my phone’s broken too,” Aiden adds immediately. “It doesn’t have that feature either.”

“Got any tutorials for us, Zayn?” Theo asks sarcastically. “You should show us how you did it.”

Without opening my eyes, I let out a loud groan, which only makes them chuckle.

It’s a picture of Selene at our house last night.
