The Game Plan

But calling her baby got to her and I… like it. I’m always here for a challenge. I decide on the spot to spend the next six weddings of the day forcing Sienna to have a good time.

“Jax Harris, I will not love you tender because you are a hound dog.” She calls me out and has me bellowing a laugh.

“You’re a lot more fun under the influence of alcohol,” I tell her.

“Keep talking yourself into my jailhouse, rocky boy.”

We’re ushered into the group for an official fourth ceremony photograph, then switch back into our own clothes to set off for the next chapel, which is in walking distance because it’s Las Vegas, the home of needless indulgence. Something I happen to be great at.

“You’ve got no chance,” my brother says, draping an arm around my shoulder in a move that tells me I’m mentally taking Sienna out of that tight little dress she’s wearing. She can keep the killer heels on.

Sienna, meanwhile, has been accosted by Mitch’s wife, Lauren, who flashes me a warning glare before getting back to Sienna.

“I’m not trying,” I reply to TJ.

“You’re always trying, bro.”

He scoots ahead to walk with one of Amelie’s friends and I get closer to Sienna, who is now sandwiched between Mitch and Lauren.

“My room card,” she tells them, offering up her hotel access key for Mitch to take. “Whatever happens, do not let me do anything unprofessional that I’ll regret later.”

“Deal. Now, can you let loose and agree that you don’t need to go back to the hotel for a lie-down already?” Lauren asks.

“Fine. But don’t let me—”

Lauren clamps a hand across Sienna’s mouth. “Make a fool of yourself. Got it.”

“I was going to say walk on this dirty sidewalk barefoot because these shoes may be pretty but they’re already killing me.”

I step between them. “Cue the stud,” I announce, sweeping Sienna, yelping, onto my back. “Wrap your legs around me, sweetheart, and I’ll take you for the ride of your life.”

“Jax Harris, you will do no such thing,” she says, struggling against me, but I’ve got a firm grip on deliciously smooth thighs.

It takes less than a second for her to settle into the foot reprieve. Her arms tighten around my shoulders, bringing her entire body flush against me and engulfing me in the scent of really fucking nice perfume. She smells like nighttime and sex. This is not her usual work perfume, which is nice, but doesn’t make me thankful for the thick denim of my pants that’s keeping my intrigued member contained.

I start singing to her the lyrics from Elvis’s “Surrender”, honestly, a little perturbed that a guy as cool as me knows so many Elvis tracks – that’s got to be some form of childhood abuse from my parents.

In return, Sienna belts out a song that I think is called “Hardheaded Woman”.

We hip swing with her on my back all the way to ceremony five, each of us competing to be the loudest singer as we go.

Damn, this playful Sienna is even hotter than the stuffy tailored, impenetrable (pun intended) executive.

At the next chapel, we dress as a Greek god and goddess. Sienna’s black underwear shows through the thin white Grecian dress she’s wearing and under the influence of an Aperol Spritz this time, it’s even harder to take my eyes off her.

“You seem pretty tight with Mitch and Lauren,” I tell her, where we are side by side in the pews, waiting for Amelie’s entrance.

“Mitch took me under his wing when I first left college. He recommended me to the New York Libertines Marketing and Communications team as an intern.”

“You worked for the Dragons’ biggest rivals.”

She presses her lips together as she nods, knowing she committed a cardinal sin.

“So you’ve always been a hockey girl?”

“I’m from Winnipeg. If you’re not into hockey, you’re ostracized.”

I smile. “I didn’t know that. But it makes sense. You’ve always seemed to get hockey. That time I got sin binned more of the game than I played, you spoke to me like you knew which of those penalties I’d deserved and which I hadn’t.”
