My lungs burn, and my head droops back, like I’m falling back I’m not going anywhere.
I think I might pass out.
“But your body is ready for me.” Thrust. “Only me.” Thrust. He shoves his hips forward, the sound of flesh against flesh echoing in the small space around us. He thrusts so hard he shoves my body back, my head hitting the wall behind us. Cain hits deep inside of me, making me flinch, and drawing out more tears with each thrust. “Say you’re mine,” Cain growls the words before releasing his hand and biting my neck. I suck air into my burning lungs.
And I realize I’m close…
“Say it!” He bites down on my shoulder.
“I’m yours!” I cry out, I pull on the rope as my middle convulses and my pussy throbs around Cain’s cock that is pulsing inside of me.
“Good girl,” Cain praises as he presses his lips gently against mine and unties the restraints. As the music surges toward its final crescendo, Cain grabs a pair of mats and hauls them over to conceal us.
Cain holds himself inside of me, watching me with his gray eyes that match the storm inside of me.
It’s going to kill me, belonging to someone that I can’t be with.

Chapter 25
“Good morning,” Melanie’s voice chirps from behind the desk. She gestures to a tall mug with a tea bag draped over the side and steam rising from the top. I take it in both hands, letting the warmth seep into my frozen hands. Last night was cold, my little fire was hardly enough to keep me warm with the arctic winds blowing through my window.
“You’re in early,” I comment, leaning over the desk on my elbows. She nods, her dark hair in a messy bun bobbing along with her.
“I got called in a few hours ago. There was a situation last night, Josiah couldn’t be alone.” Melanie opens her notebook and grabs the pen from behind her ear.
“A situation?” I stick my nose over the tea and take a deep breath.
“Yeah… We actually tried to get you, but they wouldn’t let us.” Melanie bites the far side of her lower lip, making it stick out almost cartoonishly. I look at her over my mug and raise my brow. “Two people came in last night. One adult male was found injured by the railroad tracks, and one adult female, whom the high secretary brought in.”
“What’s the status on the male?”
“His name is Mikhail Vasiliev, twenty-six. He has some bumps, bruises, and a pretty serious concussion. He appears to be suffering from serious memory loss.”
“Did you get the railroad logs?”
“I sent over a runner, but they said there weren’t any trains coming through last night.”
I freeze halfway through a sip of my tea. The railroad passes through not far from the manor. I know I heard a train last night.
“What about the female?”
“Vitals are good, nothing physically wrong with her. She doesn’t talk, though.”
“Doesn’t talk?”
“Yeah…” Melanie nods. “We don’t know if she just won’t, or if she can’t. We couldn’t get anything out of her.”
“What did Dr. Frolov say?” I ask, then take a sip of my tea. Melanie scrunches her face, and I let out a sigh. “He hasn’t come in to see them yet, has he?”
“Nope.” She shakes her head. I set my mug down, press my fingers on my forehead, then move to massage my temples. “Alright, grab Riah and have him meet me for their full intake. What rooms are they in?”
“Male in seven, female in ten. Notes from entry checks and exam requests from the high secretary are on your clip.”
“Thanks. Keep this warm for me, will you?” I take one last sip of my tea, then leave it on the counter and grab my clipboard. “And if Dr. Frolov comes in, tell him I’m going to meet him at his office.”
I always admired him, Dr. Frolov. Since my mom took up permanent residency in the infirmary, he has been my mentor. Guiding me, allowing me to help with anything and everything, so that I could learn. He’s the one who accompanied me on my field training so that I could be deployed with the EOD units on my own. He’s given me all the medical books I could ask for and has been training me to be his partner and a second doctor for the clinic.
