Jax's usual grin disappeared. For once, there was nothing playful in his expression. He met Silas's gaze and gave him a single nod.
Silas nodded back.
Before either of them touched me again, Kaelen checked the mirrors.
He had already changed roads twice since leaving town and doubled back once, and no car had stayed behind us. Jax's phone had buzzed ten minutes earlier with a message from Tomás saying the boat wouldn't reach the jetty before midnight.
For now, we had some breathing room. There was no sign of anyone behind us, and nothing in the mirrors suggested we were being followed.
A few minutes later, Kaelen turned on the indicator.
He left the highway at the next exit and pulled into a nearly deserted rest area. A handful of trucks sat near the entrance with their lights off, but he drove past them and continued to the far end of the lot, where a broken streetlamp stood over an empty row of spaces. He parked there, killed the engine, and let the silence settle around us.
Rain pattered across the roof of the car.
I frowned at him. "What are you doing?"
His gaze found mine in the rearview mirror. "I'm not driving through this."
The certainty in his voice sent another rush of heat through me.
"Do you want us to stop?"
His jaw flexed. "No."
"Are you going to watch?"
He took a moment before answering. "If you'll let me."
I kept my eyes on his reflection. "I will."
"Well, well," Jax said as he lowered himself into the footwell in front of me. He had enough room to kneel between my legs without struggling, which told me just how large the car really was.
Once he was settled, he looked up at me through the low light and slid his hands over my calves. His palms moved over my knees, then continued higher, tracing the insides of my thighs at an unhurried pace.
I shifted on Silas's lap, suddenly aware of just how wet I already was.
Jax noticed it too. His nostrils flared, and a flash of gold appeared in his eyes.
When I looked toward the mirror again, Kaelen was still watching. His eyes remained gray for the moment, steady and intent, while the muscle in his jaw worked beneath his skin.
I kept looking at him as Jax undid my jeans.
Behind me, Silas slipped both hands beneath my sweater. He spread them over my stomach before moving upward and cupping my breasts through my bra. His thumbs passed slowly over my nipples again and again until they tightened under the fabric, and when he gave one a small pinch, my hips jerked forward.
His mouth found the side of my neck.
Jax eased my jeans and panties down my legs, pulled them free, and tossed them toward the front seat. I heard them land somewhere near Kaelen. A moment later, his breathing changed.
Jax bent his head and kissed the inside of my knee, then began moving upward along my thigh, taking his time with every inch.
Silas spoke against my ear, his voice low. "That's it, sweetheart. Let him."
By the time Jax reached the inside of my thigh, I was already trembling. Then his mouth moved between my legs.
The first pass of his tongue over my pussy made me suck in a breath. When he reached my clit, I cried out and closed my hand around Silas's wrist.
There was no teasing in Jax now. He worked my clit with a steady, hungry rhythm while holding my thighs open across Silas's knees. Silas stayed wrapped around me from behind, one arm firm across my stomach while his other hand remained on my breast. His mouth stayed close to my neck, and he kept murmuring for me to relax and let Jax handle me.
