Silas glanced at him, waiting for him to continue.
“She's leaving again,” Frank said.
The relaxed expression on Silas's face vanished.
For a brief moment, something dangerously close to fear flickered in his eyes. The cigarette remained between his fingers, but his attention had shifted entirely to Frank. The usual ease in his posture disappeared, his jaw tightened, and the calmness that had defined him moments ago gave way to a chilling stillness.
“Where is she going?” he asked, his voice unnervingly quiet.
“Paris, sir. Her flight is in two hours.”
Silas immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Allison's number. The call didn't even ring before it disconnected.
His jaw clenched.
She had blocked him.
The realization sent a flash of fury through his eyes, and Frank instinctively straightened. He had worked for Silas long enough to recognize the difference between ordinary irritation and the kind of anger that could make an entire room wish for death.
“Mr. Black...” Frank began cautiously.
But Silas was already moving.
He tossed aside the cigarette, snatched up his car keys, and headed for his car without another word.
Silas got behind the wheel and drove off at a reckless speed. He barely registered the road ahead, his mind fixed on Allison.
He didn't slow down until he reached the house Allison had moved into not long ago.
The moment he stopped the car, he climbed out and stormed toward the entrance. He didn't bother knocking. He drove his foot into the door, forcing it open, and marched inside.
“Allison!”
Silence greeted him.
His eyes swept across the empty ground floor before shifting toward the staircase. Then he spotted her.
Allison was dragging a suitcase down the stairs.
For a moment, Silas simply stared at her. After everything he had done to find her, after the hours of uncertainty and the growing fear that he might never see her again, there she was, preparing to leave as though none of it mattered.
He immediately strode toward the staircase and began climbing.
Allison looked up at the sound of his approaching footsteps. The moment she saw him, she froze, her hand tightening around the suitcase handle.
Silas didn't say a word.
It was the silence before a tsunami, the quiet that came before everything was swept away.
Chapter 2 Make You Fall in Love with Me
Allison had rarely seen Silas lose control, and she had never known him to look frightened. Yet she had also never seen him this unnervingly composed when there was so much anger in his eyes.
Her heart began to pound.
He looked calm, almost collected, but there was something threatening beneath that composure, something that made it difficult for her to draw a steady breath. She couldn't understand how a man could appear so controlled and still make her feel as though a storm was about to break.
Silas took the suitcase from her hand and set it aside. Before she could react, he stepped closer, placing one hand on the handrail beside her, then the other, trapping her against the glass overlooking the living room downstairs. He leaned over her, his towering frame completely overpowering hers.
