I reached for him again.

Ryan caught my fingers and brought them to his mouth. His lips pressed against my knuckles before he turned my hand and bit lightly into the heel of my palm.

“You’re determined to get fucked before we finish this hunt.”

“I’m determined to win.”

“You stopped caring about the wooden hearts fifteen minutes ago.”

“I’m pursuing several victories.”

His hand closed around the back of my neck, bringing my mouth close enough to share his breath. “Keep pushing and you’ll get exactly what you’re asking for.”

I placed my fingers inside his. “You’re alarmingly invested in wedding activities now.”

“I’m motivated by the prize.”

I pulled the map from his pocket before he could stop me, unfolded it, and discovered the route required us to return to the first turn and take the path he’d suggested.

I refolded it.

“Well?” he asked.

“We’re going left.”

“We already went left.”

“We’re recommitting.”

“You were wrong.”

“I’m captain.”

“So am I.”

“You’re wearing two shirts.”

“That has no bearing on authority.”

“It affects judgment.”

Ryan held out his hand. “Give me the map.”

I tucked it into the front of my shorts.

His attention followed the movement.
