“The maze.”
“The Halloween maze is closed.”
I say nothing. Her smile begins slowly. Dangerously.
“A winter maze?”
Dante’s fake snoring grows louder.
Sloane reaches behind herself and pinches him. He yelps.
“Tell me.”
“I value my life.”
“Callum won’t kill you.”
“He hid my shoes in the freezer.”
“You left them everywhere,” I say.
Sloane sits up, clutching the sheet against her chest.
“What are you planning?”
Rhys answers with the calm of a man who knows resistance is pointless.
“Nothing has been finalized.”
“That is not an answer.”
“Your consent form will be ready next week.”
Her eyes light with wicked anticipation. Dante opens one eye.
“You weren’t supposed to tell her.”
“She already knows.”
“She suspected. There’s a difference.”
Sloane looks at me.
“Will there be masks?”
“Yes.”
“Ribbons?”
“Yes.”
“Toys?”
Dante grins.
“Twelve.”
Rhys glares at him.
